So I traded a target rifle in at a local gun shop yesterday and ended up with some cash. With some of that cash I ended up walking out the door with two russian sks rifles :). They are in great shape and have been de cosmilineized with the help of the great sticky above. I wanna say thankyou to all on this forum. You can learn a lot just browsing. Cheers!

WOAH THERE! In order to actually receive your membership card in the mail, you need to provide photographic evidence that you have fulfilled the required basic admission.... um.... well... I couldn't keep this going for as long as I hoped....

Welcome to the Club. The SKS is my fav milsurp rifle and Ive got the pics to prove my membership haha. Ive got two 1954Tulas. One laminate, one hardwood. I have not shot the hardwood one yet, and don't really plan to as there are very few signs of wear on it for a refurb.

Nice. Is that the tapco stock? If not whatcha got there and do you like it? I am keeping one stock but I might keep both in wood furnature and buy a third to play with :). I feel these guns look awsome the way they are but black is just ###y too. Decisions decisions lol.

yes, tapco. I like it. I like the pistol grip and longer LOP.
still wanted to keep a couple original, and maybe? another in a draganov stock.
I like those.

Does anybody make the draganov stocks in wood for the sks?? I have seen them in Synthetic but not so much in wood.

Here are my 5 beauties. I had a bit of fun with my '52 refurb. Sits in an early ATI folder, shimmed, parkerized, ceramic coated, spare colour-matched 5/30 round mag (BOB/trunk gun). All Russian. 3 are non-refurbished...

Ive got a refurbished one right now, hows the overall condition compare to a un-refurbished/ un-issued one?

I will let you know when it arrives.

Honestly I had a refurb previously that was in excellent shape, so I can't imagine it will be too much nicer. I think the big difference is the stock might not have so many dings and stamp marks.
