A proud member of the sks club.

I will let you know when it arrives.

Honestly I had a refurb previously that was in excellent shape, so I can't imagine it will be too much nicer. I think the big difference is the stock might not have so many dings and stamp marks.

Yea, not having all those x's would be nice. Tradex seems to have fairly good prices, may have to consider one.

Is there a stamp on the reciver when they are refurbs? A square with a hash mark in it or somthing? I was told yes but not sure the source was reliable.

So the two rifles i purchased are not refurb even though I was told they are. If this is the case I am actually much happier with my purchases of $199 each :)

Here is my little SKS collection and a few others.... welcome to the SKS club!

Sometimes, russian forgot to put refurb stamp, i bought 2 sks recently at my CT and they were supposed to be refurb but they dont have any refurb mark, wood have manys handling mark so maybe they were classified as refurb event if they aren't.

there may be a refurb mark on the stock.i saw a 1950 all matching with a laminate stock.the lam. stock had a repair and a refurb stamp on the stock.
1950's have the spring loaded firing pin and are hardwood stocks.also,1950's safety is without a spring so the safety kinda flops around...

p.s. which can. tire in quebec has sks's?

Welcome to the club. I should really get another one. Really I'd like a nice non refurb to keep original and then another bastard to put a damn big scope on to see just what it can do when I can actually see the target.

I have one of those Receiver cover type scope mounts but I haven't tried it yet....I heard they won't hold a zero for very long.

It's a 4x POSP. Removable but holds zero, doesn't get hit with brass, cool reticle, only thing is it's a little high and to the left. Maybe there's a better model that fits lower but this works for me because my left eye is master. I would like an SKS with a modified Converta Mount or Choate and a higher power scope.

The CT selling SKS is in NB, very close were i live. The safety dont have spring until 1953, well if i base on my non refurb 1953. None or the SKS i have have refurb stamp on stock.

A CT in New Brunswick is selling sks rifles 8) I like the direction things are heading in. Now if they started carrying food for the beasts, that would be sweet.

SoBoared, Can you load with stripper clips with the scope in position?

i have a '51 total refurb.the safety has the spring.just remembered, the trigger group is forced matched so
it may be a '53 or later trigger group.
the '50 i saw is all matching, even the laminate stock has the correct s/n.however,the stock has a repair(buttstock has a block of wood where i guess
the stock was chipped) and there is a large square with the line in it stamped only on the stock-refurb mark.
