I just received my cqa and i noticed that there is a black paint coating on the dust cover and a little on the front sight. The finish on the barrel and muzzle brake appears to be parkerized (greyish), the lower and upper appear anodized. The black paint i mentioned is pealing and rubbing off easily.

Is this normal for the newer norcs?

Thanks.

i Got my norc last week and I'm not familiar with the different finished but every part looks like it has the same finish. They are al crip and black. No peeling paint anywhere. I was actually surprised at how nice it is with all the complaints I've read, No tooling marks anywhere either. Overall I'm very happy at the appearance :D. Can't wait for LTATT to get approved and bring it to the range.

One of the lucky ones !

But still far from a perfect job I would assume ?

I like to think mine is a good example of "one of the good ones" (I havn't seen to many norinco AR's first hand) the finish is nice... No complaints at all. There are minor tooling marks but you gotta look for them, my main gripe is the front sight is crooked! But that's alright not many people have noticed.....
I wouldn't mind seeing these painted parts you guys are talking about. Seems kinda odd if its on new ones.

(If that's paint, it's on there pretty darn good and definitely not flaking)

My Norinco CQ-A is anodized but had what seem to be some paint overspray on the upper receiver, handguard, barrel and FSB. It all flaked right off using a toothbrush and CLP.

Same here .. one spot near the RH safety bar that scuffed a bit though. I know its a Norinco but the rest is flawless !!

debating doing a little touch up or just screeching the crap out of the rest of it haha
