Which are you looking at?
If I really wanted a high end 700,I would rather have a rifle built on a 700 action for the price.
I wouldn't discount the remington custom shop too quickly, what they supply is a known quality. a lot of the gunsmiths around that profess to be competent could actually end up handing you a very expensive problem. The only reason that I wouldn't have the custom shop do the work for me is that I insist on the gentry 3 position safety being installed on the 700 action, and Remington, of course, would not do such a thing.

I would trust SOME of the gunsmiths on this board above and beyond any thing the Remington custom shop 'gunsmiths' put out. Plus you would get a good custom barrel and trigger of your choice for less.
Didn't say that all of the private gunsmiths where poor quality, but Remington has quality standards for it's custom shop that have to be met before they go out the door
So if you want a "good" Remington, you need to employ their custom gunshop? Good to know.
Just wondering about this because I've never had a Remington (Model Seven, 760/7600, or 700) that would fail to feed or extract with proper loads and all the ones I've owned have not been the good ones.Does the good remington come with controled feeding and a proper extracter.
