Did Versapod use to stamp their bipods with the "PARKER HALE" markings? I bought one, just showed up today, and it's marked like that. The seller still maintains that it's an early Versapod copy, not that I don't believe him, just kind of hoping that I got a steal.

Can someone post pics of a Parker Hale bipod for comparison? I looked at the Versapod webpage and this looks a little different, plus I don't see the adapter that came with mine on their site. I believe that mine is more like the original Parker Hale, it is a rail that you must inlet into the stock and it has multiple holes in it to screw the adapter in.

I think VersaPod copied Parker Hale. The PH one is robust and (I think) all steel vs less rugged and some aluminum. Just to complicate things, I have a Gibbs M85 bipod that like the Made In China copy of a copy that it is.

You can use an Anschutz-type rail with a sliding T-nut or the plate with holes and a short bolt without the nut. A few years ago, I found a spigot that threads into the front of the foreend at P&D in Edmonton. I prefer the equipment rail style, but you're right about grooving the stock.

I will try and post pictures of the bipod later, camera doesn't have macro so I don't know how good they'll turn out.

It certainly doesn't look anything like the pics of the Versapod that I've seen online. The bipod appears to be 100% steel with a parkerized finish. It has the sled feet but without any ridge down the middle, they are made of thick sheet steel and welded to the legs.

Oh yeah, it does have "Made in England" directly below the Parker Hale mark. Despite all this the former owner still maintains that it's an early Versapod copy of the Parker Hale.

You have a Parker-Hale bipod then, I wouldn't complain, they are 2 to 3 times more expensive than a VP, does he have anymore by chance?

I would put a little faith in the original owners words...Keep in mind there are Leupold Mark 4 clones and vari x 3's out there that are marked Leupold but are a made in China clone. To the uneducated guy it would be very easy to take advantage of him. If he's telling you it is versa pod I would say it is If he knows the name parker hale Im sure he would make sure of the difference. That being said it doesnt mean it is junk. I love my versa pods and I have an AR-15 sporting a Leupy clone that to my extream supprise is holding up increadably well and not loosing zero as of yet. I am determined to make that thing fail though. Also alot of the big name brands are made in China so use your imagination as to where the parts design is coming from. I don't think made in China means junk quite like it used to, but it is still a risky purchase as junk is also a major export..........confused, I am. :D

If the owner wanted to rip you off, he would have sold it as the real deal Parker Hale. If someone sells it as a Versapod copy, I would tend to believe them. Also, I agree with LRC, and the whole Mk.4 clone thing as a comparison.

It's not that I don't believe the seller, it's that I've been looking at all the pics I can find of a Versapod online and this isn't quite the same, not to mention the stamping. Either way, I'm happy with my purchase, I just think that I may have gotten a really good deal.

Here are some pics of the bipod. If anyone has any pics of a real Parker Hale for comparison than I'd appreciate it.

Ooooooook, lets try again. It's a Parker Hale bipod. Made in England. It is not a VP copy (other way around), and it is proof the seller didn't know his ass from a hole in the wall.
You can go to Versa Pods website and buy the appropriate adapter for whatever application you want, and put it on any gun you wish. The adapters are interchangable with PH and VP, so its easy enough to pick a different adapter.

Last I checked a PH with adapter was nearly 300$s... enjoy.

Well if it's a clone it's a very good one. I would say you have a great bipod be it PH or clone. If you want a difinitive I would recomend doing a side by side comparison with a PH. Looking at the pics.....Im leaning Parker Hale but a hands on review by someone in the know would probably give you the answer your looking for. Either way use it and enjoy it.

It is a Parker Hale. Same as we used on the C3A1 Sniper Rifle. I've seen the clones, and they have less pronounced casting marks and poor paint/ finish. That one is the real deal.

Good catch!

Cheers,

Ben

Ok Ok, I'll give you ten bucks for that cheap British copy of the fantastic Chinese "Versapod". Where do you want me to send the money?

Oh hell yeah! :dancingbanana:

I've gotten some decent deals on the EE before, even gotten a few good deals, but this is the first time I've gotten a f*@&ing awesome deal. Here I figured $80 for a Versopod was an ok price, funny thing is it sat on the EE for over a week and I don't even own a precision rig to put it on, kind of an impulse buy. Maybe I will have to turn my Parker Hale 1200 in .300 Win Mag into a C3 clone, it already has a C3 mag on it, would just need a good heavy barrel and an old wood C3 stock.
