A question to the old timers here on Gunnutz about the Stevens 200

I recall .22lr IVI ammo in those silly plastic boxes for around $13-$15 a brick 25 years ago!! The local CO-OP would only sell two bricks to a customer, needless to say, everybody's wife, father, mother, etc., suddenly became big gopher shooters!! Now we buy bulk 500's (or 525's) for the same or less. I have a little tin candy box that I use for ammo when I go chicken hunting. I have used that dumb little box for over thirty years and still have a couple of boxes of the IVI ammo in it. I use a Savage 24H-DL .22/20ga. that I bought 40 years ago. I can't remember what I paid for the Savage, but it was BIG bucks in those days.:p:p

Chris, that store in toronto was on King Street and it was called King Sol's sports. (I hope I remember this correctly) It had become a camping store by the early '80's. I was there with my dad and wanted a .303 because I actually had the money to buy it. My dad asked me what I wanted it for and I didn't have an answer. A 9 year old with a .303 was not likely a good combination remembering how I used to be........

cheers Darryl

That's the place Darryl!
I lived in Winnipeg as a pre-teen and had been given a catalogue from King Sol's. My brother and I were going to see my Grandma and I had it all planned;
I was buying a 303, getting the bayo, some ammo, a bolo machete and a "genuine" GI issue fighting knife.
Wound up getting the knife...who would have thought that parents had to be so responsible?
