A Quick Brass Prep Tip

Just a quick tip for anyone using a stainless steel tumbler like mine, if you need to do alot of brass in a short amount of time; instead of letting your brass air dry, install the shoe rack in your dryer and put it in there for 20 minutes on medium heat for perfectly dry brass in a very short amount of time (a batch of brass takes me 2.5 hours this way including tumbling ect)
 
Been doing that for years. Would suggest not doing it when the wife is home. Also make sure the towel does not get caught on the rotating drum. I have use the oven set on 250 F to dry brass too, 10 minutes and it is dry. Buy your own cookie sheet for this, unless she isn't home when you are doing it.:p
 
Go to Walmart and buy their brand of "rubbing" alcohol,99 or 100%. Pour it all into a container and add wet brass. Swish around for 30 second's then remove brass and put it on towel. Pour remaining alcohol back into it's container then go put it away. Upon returning brass will be 98% dry.
I do it all the time, and have been doing it for 4 year's now.
 
Great tip for sure. I've been drying in the oven,on the deck in the sun on a hot day and even with a hair dryer on small batches of brass. To cheap to buy a tumbler at least for the time being so I'm using the washing machine with the brass in a mesh bag wrapped in a towel and it works pretty well. Some borax and a touch of Gain makes the brass shine.
 
I've used the oven but much prefer this. I actually haven't used the rack for anything but brass lol. Ive been doing 3 batches per day lately with this method and it really saves me floor space compared to air drying
