A Real Sh€#ty way to start the year!

Hi guys! i have some news to tell you. Not sure if its good or bad just yet! I will let you guys know when I find out.

I am presently dealing with a somewhat uncertain situation!

I have had a bad spot on my forehead that the doctors have repeatedly told me was psoraiasis (for 2 years)! I finally got my doctor to refer me to a specialist last week.
As soon as I walked into his office (even before he said "HI"), he said "I am cutting that thing out!" Gave me quite the surprise to be honest!
He removed a 1-1.25" wide, by 2.5" teardrop shaped section!

Now not only do I have a permanant scar (not a really big deal), but my left half of my face above my eye is now out of proportion! Hopefully I can stretch it back a little over time! The specialist said he thinks its Cancerous for sure! We just have to wait to find out what kind/severity it is!
HMMMM!!! I was never handsom mind you,(LOL) but it sure gives a guy a shock to see a change like that! (when I wasnt expecting it!)

I have had this spot/lesion for this long and now its bad?! I hope this extended length of time didnt allow it to spread beyond this spot!!!

I wish the doctors would have taken it more seriously "2 YEARS AGO!"

I should find out more within this week.

Talk about an uncertain emotion! The test could come back saying its a minor cancerous lesion (removing it would have solved that), or the opposite. Everything feels SURREAL lately!

Now I am getting a small rash that seems to be spreading around my left eye, and the back of my hands. Thats all I needed!

I am not stressed out too much,(yet), but it all feels so unreal! Like its not happening to "ME".

Sorry guys, I dont mean to complain!

Just wanted to let my fellow Gunnutz know why I havent been active on the forums much lately.

Straight shootin guys, and keep it fun!

Sorry to hear about what you're currently dealing with.

I think your experience really emphasizes that Doctors are like any other profession or trade in that there are good ones and there are poor ones.
I too learned this the hard way with my shoulder which now requires surgery due to a Pill pushing physician who was too lazy to determine the root cause of the condition because it's easier to prescribe something instead.

If in doubt or still unsure always get a second or even third opinion.

Wish you the best in your recovery.

I know it's easy to say and not so easy to do, but keep a cool head. The less your stressed the better your body will do IF you do have a problem. Complain all you like, if your not well you have earned the right. Take care of yourself and get well.

If it's in an area exposed to sunlight then there's a strong possibility it is a Basal Cell Carcinoma. Although technically malignant it rarely spreads systemically and local excision is curative about 95%. Next on the list is Squamous Cell Carcinoma which also can resemble Psoriasis and is much more dangerous but again is often caught at an early stage before it has spread. Malignant Melanoma is the one everyone is familiar with and is, of course, very serious. You're lesion is most likely not MM as it is not commonly confused with Psoriasis and would have spread before now.

Sounds like the Specialist is on the ball and has sent the biopsy for a definitive diagnosis. You should have a final tissue result within two weeks of the biopsy. If you do not hear back from the Dr's office within that time frame phone them and bug them about it.

Until you know definitely what it is don't panic. Facial lesions from sun exposure and Basal cell are very common, easily treatable and re occurence preventable with sunblockers etc.

Sorry for the unsolicited medical advice but old habits are hard to break!

thankyou Heddock and others!
Thats the kind of encouragement I need!

The doctor said I show two or three symtoms of the Squamous cell type but all of the Basil type (from a visual stance). I dont know how accurate visuals are, but hope its the Basal. Or even better, NOT CANCEROUS. lol!

Its the length of time that this wasnt dealt with that concerns me the most.
It has been an open weeping wound for at least 6-8 months. Absolutely no sign of any healing at all.

95% chance of full recovery is what I am hoping for as well. As long as its Basal cell carcenoma.

take care guys!

I also have cancer and the cure rate is about 97 % however there is a chance I am in the 3%, how is that soup fans.

Hang in there and enjoy your time, get a bucket list a mile long and tell yourself it will be completed.

god will take me 3 weeks after my 88 birthday

week one day one I will get laid, and that will take a week to recover,

week two day one I get drunk on 2 beers, and that will take the rest of the week to recover,

week three I will start calling the people I have grown to hate and LET ME TELL YOU THAT WILL TAKE AT LEAST A WEEK,

(my joke I made up)

enjoy your day, life is sssssssssooooooooo short, this I know

The way you get into things DThunter, I figured you locked yourself in the basement melting lead into cast bullets. Explaining why you have been missing for the last little while.

Hope everything works out for the best.

If you need something to take your mind off things, let me know. I can razz ya about your shooting. :p

Thanks guys!

Heck, I probably will get a clean bill of health tommorrow, or on the day my results come in.

I hope to be at the shoot as well, but if my health and finances Permit, I will be going to the Philippines in late October.

My father/mother in law are in thier late 70's, and I would like them to meet thier grandson while they are still healthy.

Max:
Lol! You can raz me anytime about my shooting deficiencies!
........... Wait!, that will be a quiet discussion about nothing!!
Lol!!!

Just kidding! I thought I would get first strike in!

I hope everything turns out fine for you...

Any lesion that is there for no reason and that doesnt heal is an immediate cancer concern.... after 2 weeks
ESPECIALLY an "open weeping wound for at least 6-8 months"

I hope you are all good.

You both have my support. My uncle has just found out he has oral cancer. Next movember my moustache will put Yosemite Sam to shame.

My grandpa, his father had it bad and was robbed short. An extremely interesting man, greatly missed. I wasn't old enough to ever go hunting with him, my brother was :)

Best of luck with the recovery for both of you guys.

Also to the other nutters on here. Do not let any medical stuff slide. I'm brutal for it. I let a tooth that was bothering me go too long. Took two days off for the flue. Back on night shift, about 3am in the morning the gum under the tooth started to really hurt and swell. Abscess time. I'm guessing the fever and swollen glands weren't the flue but the onset of the infection. Thought it would go down. Nope had to call in sick the next night shift and go to Emergency.

Nothing like having huge needles stuck in there while they slit your gum. Followed by IV then 4 days of having to attend the hospital for IV antibiotics and of course you have to keep the IV tube in you while at home. Then there is the tooth extraction about a week later after the swelling has gone down. I go back to work tomorrow morning. It hasn't been a fun couple of weeks.

Moral of this story and the others here. Look after yourselves. Don't let anything slide. If you deal with it right away chances are it won't get so bad you're out of commission.

Again good luck to you guys with physical ailments. Take care of yourselves.
