1939 FB / Fabryka Broni.....Radom Receiver

1939 Radom receiver with the Polish eagle and the additional Steyr / Reich "77" markings and a VZ-24 stock.
At first glance it looks like a Vz-24 with a turned down bolt handle.

The bore is mint and she handles very well and appears to be a bit heavier than a standard byf K-98....maybe the stock set??

There has been really good feedback to try and find out when this rifle was put together.
We know the Radom receivers, Bolts, Barrels, etc....were repurposed in to serviceable Reich rifles with components by or from Steyr and possibly Brno, and from used earlier rifles.

This particular rifle has a large amount of Czech Components and the bottom metal is from an early K-98 by Mauser that would have dated around 1936/1937 due to the Waa 63 proofs, and Weimar eagles and it was not re-stamped or forced matched with electric pencil. There are no electric pencil marks anywhere I can see.

I have taken additional pictures of the bolt to show how the number was updated to the new Reich receiver number and some other markings that are on the bolt.

It is suspected that the '39 Radom receiver/bolt was updated to the laminated VZ-24 stock set at some point during the war.
Not sure if it was as early as the other Radom's when put in to first Reich service as their vz-24 updates appear to be with non-laminated stocks.

Did the Czech's have an early, late war, or post war program using this stock set?
The rifle is gorgeous but not sure when it was put in to second service.

Here are some additional pics of the bolt.....

That is the great rifle I would love to add sometime to my collection. As for condition - I suspect tgat metal and wood were refinished. I might be wrong but it looks so from the pictures.

I don't think its been touched since it was made in to the 29/40 or a later rework by the Czech's.

There are some light touches of surface crust, toning, and rifle crate wear here and there that have been there a long time, but it was my understanding it was obtained in the late '70's or early '80's.

The stock looks pre German intervention. Even a g24t was updated with German stock features right away. A 660 coded 29/40 would have a German flat but stock.

Can you post pics of the bolt numbers?

I have taken some additional pics showing more bolt detail.....still curious to see if the rifle was brought in to Reich service and then rebuilt again by the Czech's.
Not sure if this stock set was available early enough to have been used in late '41 or thru '42?

These rifles are made from unfinished Polish receivers. There is no evidence suggesting these were made from wz.29's. All leftover/unfinished parts went to Steyr, and these receivers were completed into full on K98 specs in 1940. There are 3 varients of the G.29/40, and all are quite scarce. This is a very nice write up on this variant:

This one is very much a post war re-work. It is a Type 1 just like mine (mine is a restored sporter). All parts should be WaA77 (Radom) or WaA623 (Steyr).

Its a very hard to find rife - congrats!
