A really neat article on Reduced Centerfire Loads

Some interesting reading over at woodsdrummer, thanks for the reminder :D

Anyone here use reduced loads for small game?

Not as much as I used to, but I like 25 grs of 2400 or SR 4759 for reduced loads in .30-06 and similar cartridges. I didn't have much luck with very light bullets, but bullets from 150 to 200 grs worked fine. I shot thousands of Lyman #311284 with these loads. I shot a few foxes with these, and countless ptarmigan.

The late Ellwood Epps used to use 4to5 grs of Bullseye and a "reversed" bullet pushed in by hand(thumb),this works for any caliber!! I tried it in an 8mm 98 and it shot very well. The partridge had a neat hole and very little meat damage. His other advice was to check the barrel after each shot to make sure it was clear. mWorth a try guys. JITC

I load 5.5 g of green dot under a 158g JHP in my 358 win for grouse/small game
Deadly on pigeons/gophers around the farm.
Velocity about 825fps
