Yeah, that Marlin will loosen your teeth if you're not prepared for it.

You can't go wrong with a Henry. Go for a 357/38 Golden Boy if she wants something bigger calibre that won't kick. (You don't even notice the recoil.) Great gun.

Though, really, I've never had a bad Henry, no matter the calibre.
 
Marlin 39A lever 22 for the win! You'll have to find a used one though.

My wife loves shooting mine. The Mountie versions are even better balanced for the smaller framed people.
 
Maybe I will wait to June 6th. After Trudy is done with everything I might only be able to get her a stick :) Thanks for all the help, I think a Henry is probably the one.
