A Safari Arms "Navy" 44cal

I just recently acquired a Safari Arms Navy 44cal pistol. I am totally duh as to what accessories im going to need to be able to shoot it. This is my first cap and ball so any helpful info is greatly appreciated. Im going to go to the Safari Arms website and see if its helpful but thought id post up here for some straight up helpful tips. Thanks in advance

You will need FFFG black powder, a powder measure, .454 round ball and #10 or #11 percussion caps, depending on the size of the nipple. Pour 30 grns of BP in each chamber, push a lead ball in with the loading lever, smear some type of BP lube or Crisco over the end of the chamber, cap all 6 nipples and you're ready to go. Shoot 6 times and repeat. Its very important to clean the gun thoroughly when you're done shooting as BP is very corrosive. I use hot soapy water and then oil everything inside and out. Lots of accessories can be found on Marstar's website and at Dixie Gunworks but this is all you really need to get started.
 
What bdft said will have you going.

If you reduce the load so that the bullet doesn't touch the powder put in a little filler like cream of wheat or cornmeal. You don't want a seperated charge with BP.

Covering the seated bullets with some sort grease like crisco or whatever brand of black powder lube you can find is important otherwise there is a small chance that the charge you fire could ignite some of the others. = Very bad!

To make life easier find or make a stand to hole the gun upright while you load it if you are going to do a lot of shooting.

As a side note, black powder residue is not actually corrosive if kept dry. Its very hydroscopic and absorbs moisture out of the air. This moisture then attacks the metal and can reduce a gun to junk in no time. In very dry climates I've seen guns left dirty all winter and not suffer any consequences. Do not take that chance though.
