I know of a story of a moose that fell in a crack as well. A guide and a hunter were backpack hunting in the NWT and the hunter shot a cranker. The moose ran and fell in a crack/gorge. The guide said he wasn't sure that they were going to get it out without help and they were quite a few miles from camp. The hunter said to the guide as he pointed his rifle at him "I will kill you if you don't get that moose out of there". The guide did eventually get the moose out and back to camp after a few days of hard work and the rest of the hunt went smoothly.

There are obviously many more details, but it is a true story

use the force Luke!
(or else hire Yoda, he's pretty skilled at pulling this kind of tricks)

now really, how could the moose get out?
how long did it take for "it" to die of thirst?
mother nature is always cruel!

I saw a photo a couple years ago of a cow moose that had died under somewhat similar tragic circumstances. She had put her head into a fork of a tree and became jammed. The ironic part was that all she needed to do was lift/raise her head to free herself instead of just trying to pull away.

I certainly hope the guide peed in the hunter's coffee for that.

Threatening someone with death over anything like this is a sign of a pretty malignant personality. Were I the guide, I'd get the SOB back to camp and then ask him to leave and never come back.

No sh*t that's insane . How the hell do you finish a trip amicably with someone like that who you now know is a complete psychopath, in the middle of nowhere to boot?
