A Springfield/Remington M1903A3

I like old school sporterized military rifles even though I don't hunt with them. This 30-06 I picked off here a while back. It got shot again today, for fun. Some Hornady 165 BTSP are IMR 4350 were on the menu.
The trigger breaks at 2lbs. The lock time is looong... The pad is sharp but the 9lb weight helps. Someone put a lot of effort into this, and I really appreciate it!

Neat old rifle. In the age of composites and stainless you can pick up some really nice old sporting rifles for a song. That looks like it was somebody’s pride and joy. Nice to see it being shot instead of collecting dust in a pawn shop.

I know what you are saying. I am kind of in the same boat and rifles I kind of like don't get out much. That one is a pretty decent job on a Springfield. The Neidner buttplate looks good but, I have to confess, once they started making rubber, the idea of a steel buttplate just didn't make sense to me. Kind of a nice, late fifties, style.

Nice looking rifle. Does that Timney have an integrated safety? Just curious how the scope can be low like that with those wing safeties they have? Or do u just run it without safety?

Beuhler safety, rotates through 60 degress, rather than 180 of the originals.

What base is on it? I have a semi-sportered 1903 that needs a steel one piece base. No collector value left as it has a Redfield #70 side mt aperture sight installed.Mine is a later nickle steel receiver so strong enough.

That’s a Buelher mount for a 1903A3. The rear bridge is different on th A3 compared to the previous 1903 design. They’re nice looking mounts but are no longer produced. Seems to be quite a few around in the US but not as many here.
