A summary of 5.56 / 7.62x39 Black NR Rifle Options and Prices (Dec 2024)

I got my Templar a couple of weeks ago and so far am loving it. Have put about 600 rounds thru it thus far and apart from 2 hang ups from the last round in a cross mag its been great. Some say its a little heavy but if so that has not bothered me. That said, it is my first semi-auto so I have nothing to compare this to. I pre-ordered a NR bren a few months ago, and I bought the Templar until the bren arrives. Which, I hope it does in the spring.
After today's announcement from the Alberta Govt it is worth nothing that the:
- BCL Coyote
- Maccabee Defence SLR
- ATRS Modern Sporter
- Sterling Arms Target Rifle
All got FRT banned after May 1st (Please counter if incorrect) and as such are not covered under the 2nd of Alberta's 3 factors to not pursue charges i.e:
1. The firearm was legally obtained before May 1st, 2020
2. The firearm was reclassified to prohibited on May 1st, 2020
3. There are no other charges present in relation to the firearm or it’s use.

The change happened to the frt a couple weeks after the oic as I recall
May 15th as I recall
I hope those firearms are covered but it's worth waiting for clarification from Alberta
To my knowledge there’s been a few people who have ordered the 556 calibre conversions upon ordering their 9mm Ravens. There hasn’t been an exact ETA from Lockhart but apparently they are assembling the gas systems of the 556s right now.

Just messaged Lockhart on Facebook. He said the first batch is going out this month. Asked what the lead would be on a new order and I heard 5 weeks. So to me that would mean that all the previous hundreds of orders (what he told me) would be out before then, as I should hope he would fulfill existing orders before processing new ones.
You should further update this list for them. Or I can help you.

I appreciate what you've done in trying to help the community be aware of what options they have left after the last few bans. What they have done now is ban almost everything that was available. At this point, what little remains should probably be kept quiet within the community.
They have a list of every firearm available in this country. They are the damn federal government and the RCMP after all. There are a few NR mag fed semi-autos left and we should keep their names to ourselves NOW after the government went full regard.
