Very Nice.

Two good books on German Rifles are;
“German Military Rifles and Machine Pistols 1871 – 1945”,
By Hans Dieter Gotz. Translated by Dr. Edward Force, CCSU. Includes information on assault rifles and Sten copies.

And “The German Rifle, A comprehensive illustrated history of the standard bolt-action designs,
1871-1945”. By John Walter. Includes information on the use of captured French Chassepots
He quotes from Gotz.

Gewehr 88 and its later variants are the Roger Dangerfield's of their era.

I like them alot. Most of the survivors have S bores, so .323 diameter bullets are just fine.

If they're in decent condition, they function like oiled glass. Great triggers and accurate to boot, if the bores are good.

Thanx for posting that OP.

Chinese arsenals produced Hanyang 88 long after Gew 88 were scrapped in Europe and used them even longer.Afaik all of them were Mannlicher enbloc fed.

Wiki had picture of a monument somewhere in China supposedly dedicated to that rifle.

I wish Norinco still made them with bayo and cleaning kit repro :)

I would be happy with good quality Mannlicher clip repros
