a thought on 10 rounders in an m14.

Not just keep up in competitions... you can take this rig to the woods for gravel pit fun. That beats the AR hands down.
BTW the mags are different than the M14 mag in two ways. The hole is absent, as already discussed, and the mag catch block on the back of the mag is shaped differently too.

Okay, back from the range. I got less range time with my M14 than I wanted due to having to get a bunch of stuff done with my Garand (set up adjustable gas system and sight in scout scope), but I did get to put two boxes of ammo through the M14 with AIA Enfield mags.

1 Box of Federal Power Shock 150's (what most everyone uses) - 0 FTF
1 Box of Musgrave 150gr RN (looking for trouble, but WTF!) - 2 FTF

It's a pretty small sample, but other guys are also getting out there and trying the mags and posting. I know I was looking for trouble even trying round nose bullets in my M14, but I had an old box that needed firing. The mags worked perfectly with the Federal stuff, and one failure per mag with the RN stuff. I honestly feel it's all to do with the RN bullets and not the mags. Although my number of shots was small, personally I'm convinced (based on what I shot and other posts by the rest of you) that we've found legal 10 round mags that work in the M14 without any modifications whatsoever. I'll be calling anyone selling these mags next week to try and scoop up a couple more. Man, am I happy!

Gee, i wish .223 was inexpensive:rolleyes:

damnit, i was in the middle of bringing up the totals here, when I realized that your friggen right! The 140 round battle packs seem expensive, but really they arent!

.44cents a round for .223
.57cents a round for 7.62X51

huh...

They fit snugly, and cannot be PULLED out unless you operate the mag release. I can't give a function report because the ammo I'm using now has a tendancy to have feeding problems with any mag in my M14.
Good luck finding a source to order from, since this thread discussion, Marstar has sold out... or so I hear.

I imagine the only way one would have feed problems would be if you were using a full 20 round mag and doing section attacks on your deer then I could see some feed problems but for hunter or range use I can't see there being any real problems.

May create a new IA though:

Bolt fully forward - smack bottom of the mag #### the weapon and continue firing.

Actually that probably is the bolt fully forwar IA for the m14.

I just received one from Wolverine (last one they had). It fed my factory hunting rounds flawlessly. And I couldn't pull it out without depressing the mag release.

Wish I could find more!!
