A tip and encouragement to new precision shooters

that is a problem, i think they have groups that meet on tuesdays for your problem. lol

you know what my current problem is, my wife went to work, and i cant bring back my rum and coke to the couch from the kitchen because im on crutches. thats the biggest issue im facing right now.

That is a problem. A few immediate solutions I can think of:

1- a foam dome. I'm sure they're still around somewhere.
2- a glass holder necklace. I had a few for wine shows when I went to them regularly. It is basically a lanyard with a small conical bottom that holds a stemmed glass rather well. Then we'd just make fun of you for a rum and coke in a stemmed glass.
3- fill your hydration pack with rum and coke. 2 litres of the stuff ought to get you through the night right?

nice xray btw, bet that didn't feel good. Hope you're on your feet and at the range again soon.

all good suggestions. i think i actually have one of those foam necklace beer bottle holders somewhere, ill have the wife looks when she gets home today. my hydration pack is in the basement and with my bendy stair case id likely fall and break some other bones. i may have a water bottle somewhere i may be able to carry with me, ill have to look next time i make my way over to the kitchen.

thanks, the break wasnt bad, it sounded like a 2x4 being shattered, loud snap. i somehow didnt go into shock but i turned a little white. the break hurt, setting the bone hurt 10 times worse. id rather take a hack saw to a finger than have another bone set again like that. im hoping to make the range in the next couple weeks to shoot my .22. figure theres no recoil there so it shouldnt feel like im getting hit by a hammer like i do with my 30-06 r700.

this xray is even better, pre setting, you can see the bone is out of place and it shows both breaks nicely

on a positive note my inlaws are coming by in a few minutes so im sure i can convince them to leave a few drinks on my table :D

that's a pretty epic x-ray. I worked in EMS and saw some pretty gnarly stuff, but that, I will admit, is among the coolest. Sorry it hurt so bad.

When I was on crutches after a knee injury in high-school, someone duct-taped a water bottle to my crutch and got me some oxygen tubing to use as a straw.

glad i could impress someone whos seen some cool stuff :D

that idea isnt too bad, might get my with to bring me some tubing home from the hospital. the break wasnt too bad, i could deal with that. setting the bone was by far the worst thing ive ever felt

I believe it- I've always been told (not having any long-bone breaks of my own for reference) that the pain is less in the break because the resistance has stopped. It's increasing the resistance that makes it hurt (same concept as lifting weights- the more you lift the more it hurts).

Hope you're at least able to fondle your guns or something while you're coop'ed up

ive got two cleaning sessions in already. cleaned all of my guns the other day, and ive got an enfield that needs heavy cleaning that ive been working on, put two hours into it today, got some better stuff im gonna try tomorrow, and i just found some coppr fouling in my r700. picked up some copper removing stuff that i hope works. so if not tomorrow then next week ive got some more cleaning to do. and i forgot, i soaked my shotgun barrel in cleaner about a month and a half ago and left it in the basement. its a cleaner oil combo and shooting clay shot and slugs just ruined it so i get to clean that too. trust me ive got lots to do thats gun related :D
