A trap/skeet over and under

Hello,

I am looking for some advice for my first over/under for trap/skeet. I don't really want something too expensive for my first gun, and don't mind buying a better one later and keeping the first as a spare/teaching gun.

I prefer the break action for my first one instead of a semi because the game is so new to me that I just want to keep it simple.

I am thinking of the Stoeger Condor Competition with the adjustable comb. Any other input and places/prices would be much appreciated.

I looked at the browning citori, new or used definitely out of my current price range for a first gun.

The $750 (new) I found the Stoeger Condor competition with adjustable comb is pushing it for what I want to do for a first gun.

Think a first time guy, testing the waters.
 
I could be talked out of a very nice Citori that I'm thinking of putting on the EE for $800. They would be my first choice for an inexpensive clay bird gun for all disciplines.
 
Pay the few hundred more for a good used Citori, rather than on a Condor. You'll be far better off.

The best thing a cheap over/under does is demonstrate why you need to spend more on a good over/under.
 
I would recommend buying used rather than new (in that price range).

There is a better dollar value, and if you end up with something you don't like, or don't want to keep longer term, you can flip it for the same money you have into it.

That's a great deal on the Citori from Ben. It will also keep it's value, like Brad said, you'll always get your money back if for any reason you don't like it or you upgrade. Stay away from the Stoeger. They say only rich people can afford cheap guns.

That's funny. I am certainly not rich. I will stay away from the stoeger. I love their coach guns, can anyone let me know why they are to be avoided in this case?

How many times would you shoot a coachgun in a year?
How many times would you shoot a Clay gun in a year?

Stoeger gets such a bad rap on here for their customer service and quality. Why would anyone in their right mind deal with them at all?

1) I would shoot a match a week with the coach gun. So quite often? And the IGA coach gun serves me great, I really like them.

2) I am not sure how much I would shoot the clay gun. Depends how much I like the hobby? I could see myself shooting a round or 2 a week just before a cowboy match perhaps?

I have had nothing but good experiences with IGA/Stoeger so I am wondering myself what are the problems people mention.
 
I have the citori xt and when every other gun on field is broke or jamming miss firing mine fires eveytime. I shoot hundreds rounds a week with both trap and sporting clays leagues. Never problem yet also there so many combs pads and custom parts and fittings u can make it whatever u want.
 
Like the others have said, get a good over/under, but if you buy used then you shouldn't lose too much money when you do sell it. Might be hard to sell though, if it's a stoeger.

if you just want to find out if you like the sport, then you can use anything, remington 870 works fine for trap at least, i've seen people use it for skeet too.
