At that range regarless of the weapon, its the man. CONGRATS!!!! :dancingbanana: Mind, at that range the weapon sure as hell helps but the man is the key. Someday in my dreams I might be able do that on a paper target. Note: PAPER!!

Canadian sniper were using a different weapon and it took more than one shot. Dont know how much this one took but CONGRATS! :dancingbanana:

Canadian snipers are amoung the best in the world. WORLD!! And with a military the size of ours and the equipment/training funding to boot, thats quite a achievement for the WORLD record.

With the US (or any nationality), thats a fantastic shot regardless of any other factor. I wish I was capable of that degree of accuracy as do most people on this board. I smell TROLL!!!

.22 rimfire pfft. Your a idiot/troll.

Lastly, it reads like a advert from Remington (or some manufacturer). Take that into consideration as well and REPORTEDLY! Not Confirmed.!!!

His name is James. He is a personal friend of mine. There is more to the story than what you read. James knows his rifle well and is a hell of a shot. He was trying to put suppresive fire on the guy and just happened to hit him. He didn't expect to. The unfortunate part of the story is that the soldier that was shot from the window of the hospital by the insurgent was a personal friend of James. That's how James saw him in the first place. It wasn't a day to celebrate. The media just took it an ran as they always do. James is back in the states and is now a Ranger instructor with 5th mountain div. here.

I think everyone lost that day.

I don't want to take anything away from him. He still dialed in for wind, maxed his elevation out on the scope and used a hold over from there. This is a very calculated guess. The intent was certainly to hit him, but expectations at this distance are low.

...... You should wake up and smell the coffee before you let your fingers walk. The statement that was made was, "22 LR is dangerous to 1.5 miles" it is, same as a 7.62 is dangerous to around the 4/5 mile range. However the likely hood of making a shot at those ranges is 99.9% in favour of a miss. Same as the chance of a kill shot with a 7.62mm at 1250 yards, but maybe more like 95%.
When they say a certain cartridge is DANGEROUS to a certain distance, they mean when it is fired at the maximum angle where the bullet travels farther in distance than in elevation, and when a bullet falls out of the sky on it's own power, it can kill you if it hits you.
Who's the idiot/troll now

If it's true, congrats to the shooter.:D At that distance, with that cartridge:eek: (not taking anything away from the 7.62, it's one of my favorites):dancingbanana:, all you can do is the math and your part, and hope that "Lady Luck" has shoved that horse shoe all the way up your ???
