^Agreed! Simonov designed it to work as is. Removing that much material from the reciever and bolt could result in bodily harm even death. Not just for you, but bystanders as well. Such an endevour is foolish at best. OP you need a disclaimer on this thread. Some thing along the lines of "I have a deathwish DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!"

Buddy, you've come to this forum in order to generate a bit of business. That's great. I salute you for your entrepreneurial spirit and your support of this great site, but you aren't making any friends by panicking over what firearms owners do with their firearms. Please note the following:
1) Magazines are NOT being modified <-- VERY important point as that would mean turning them into prohibited devices
2) On this site many people modify their receivers, their triggers, their stocks and a whole lot of other things. That's a part of the fun of gun ownership. As long as it falls within the legal framework and follows proper engineering practices, panicking about it is akin to panicking about us owning guns because GUNS CAN KILL
3) Imagine you came to a car enthusiast site and started telling people they shouldn't make modifications to their suspension or brakes. That's what you're doing right now, just the gun site version of it.
This is a stupid idea. Why do you need a 10 round magazine? What is wrong with 5. With those strip clips what does it take 2.4 seconds to load another 5 rounds into a SKS? Follow the rules there is a reason for them. Give me 1 reason why you need 10 bullets in a rifle? For that gopher that just won't die? For a zombie attack. If a zombie is already dead how are you going to kill it. And is it a new thing that it takes more than 5 rounds to kill a zombie? To the OP you are out of your mind. This is such BS even I had to say something. What next you want a 50 round magazine so you are going to weld up something to shoot 22 rim fire into an SKS. Just buy the friggin hand gun to shoot 10 rounds or save some trouble and buy a 22 and shoot 50. You are a bad influence on the rest of us. You are bad for doing this.

While I don't think it's a great idea (may cause reliability issues), it isn't dangerous in the slightest. It is completely legal and if it makes a guy feel good, who cares?

When one of the site sponsors, Wolverine, modifies the CZ-858 to take the XCR 10-round pistol magazine, nobody cares. No big deal. They also offer the adapter alone for do-it-yourself installation. Nobody cares. Where do you think I got the idea to do this? (Thank you Wolverine for taking the trouble to bring us this creation).
When I modify an SKS to take the same magazine (which I bought from Wolverine), everyone freaks out. Is it because the SKS is a $200 rifle and the people who buy it are a different demographic from the ones who blow $1000 on the Wolverine CZ-858 with magazine adapter? I don't get it. How about all the people in the black rifle forums who are using the AIA 10 round magazine in their Norinco M305 rifles? No problems there either. What is it about the SKS that brings out the nay-sayers?

I've got about 250 rounds through this thing without a single jam or misfire. It just works.
As I've stated in the earlier videos where I actually show what I did, I don't recommend anyone do this to their SKS. If you are a machinist, engineer, or someone with the skills to do this, you probably can figure it out and successfully pull it off. (I'm a millwright with lots of fabricating experience). If you have never touched a tool, your chances of doing this are slim. It is your own judgement call whether you think you can do this. I knew I could, so I did. The modifications are actually quite minimal. It's the precision with which they have to be done that is the main difficulty.

I think your post above was a pretty stupid idea. why do we need a 10 round mag? Last I checked- the rifle was BUILT with a 10 round mag. A silly document makes that illegal. If there's a way to get it working legally, WHY THE HELL NOT?!?!?
Secondly, WHY THE FKING HELL NOT?!?!? If Microsoft had said 'well, we have calculators and ledgers, what do we need computers for', would that have been OK?

What you did was wrong. Nobody answered my question. Why do you need 10 rounds in an SKS? At the start of this topic everybody wanted him banned. Now they are humping his leg. I don't how I can be a troll. The government want the SKS to have 5 rounds what do you think that round plug is for? The government wants 5 rounds so if you go crazy and start shooting you will kill less people you should be glad they even let us have these cool military rifles. Stop stinking it up and you are this close to getting the SKS. As a banned weapon. If you can't hit a pop can with a five round burst and need 10 get your eyes checked.

One thing though if you are looking for a job in the interior of BC and want to get away from the rain. I could use you in my sawmill. You could set up a gun shop next to the filing room and work on my guns. That would be sweet. Just keep it legal. I respect your ability to modify rifles. Could use that in my mill. I want to put a new line in to cut shorts. We are setup to cut tree length.
