I want to ask a couple questions here directed
to the many folk that are 'in the know'.
I've made up my mind and I want to get into loading
for my .45 auto. I've loaded rifle for years now,
but this is going to be my first crack at pistol/progressive.

I've done a search, didn't find much and have noticed
there isn't a lot of talk here about it either.

So my question is;
Do you, or is it nesesary to trim pistol cases after re-sizing ?
Rifle yes, but it also headspaces different.
I've talked to a few people about this and I was given
the answer like, 'not really. . .' Is that a no...
What do you guys live/load by, what works for you and why ?

Generally no. They don't stretch.

When I first started loading (20 years ago) I trimmed all my 9mm & 45ACP brass.

Would I do this again? Definately NO. It made no difference.

I've never trimmed a piece of pistol brass after 15+ years of reloading.

45 ACP headspaces on the case mouth so I think this would pretty much eliminate any case stretch.

Well you might want to measure all your brass. It's true strecting is not an issue but if your brass is not all the same length crimping can become an issue! You may have to trim them just to make them all uniform.

Yeah, Roger that.
Although some guys do crimp, I thought a straight walled
pistol case holds it's bullet in place via an interferance fit.
I don't think factory loads are crimped, are they ?

taper crimped only. Roll crimping pistol ammo is asking for trouble (because of course, it headspaces on the case mouth)
