Was trying to see which type of duck I liked hunting the best. I've only been hunting ducks for 2 seasons really. Turned out, I enjoyed hunting them all. Here are some of the species I harvested over the last season in BC.

Did it actually fly in? Or did it waddle in and die of exhaustion? That is the fattest duck I ever did see!

What an absolutely incredible variety! I don't know if you're into bird taxidermy, but what a fantastic collection of mounts that could amount to!!!

Y'know, I'd always thought that one of the perks of livinging in central Alberta was the quality of the waterfowling, and it really is. But truth be told, I can shoot several limits of ducks in a season, but for the most part they consist of mallards, widgeon, pintails, gadwall and teal with only the odd exception being something else. I'd never really thought of B.C. being a strong waterfowl destination, but you've certainly just changed my mind!

GREAT pictures -- thanks for posting!

I am not sure if there is anywhere in Canada with more variety than BC? There were about 10 more ducks I didn't take this season.

Gaddwell I got, but didnt post a pic

Still need:
BW teal
Ruddy
Shoveler
Cinnamon teal
Eurasian widgeon
Barrows GE
Black scoter
Red breasted merg
Greater scaup
Red head
and a few others that don't really come around like the eiders

those harleys are some sharp lookin ducks , where they full plume ?

Yup, they were both mature males in full plumage. We got them mid January, actually last weekend. In BC you are allowed 2 per day for a total of 6, I believe. As far as I know, there are no outfitters offering to hunt them.

Looks very interesting, and like said before, we got a lot of ducks on the Prairies, but not usually that kind of variety! Love your Harlequin and wood ducks. We don't get them here. Nice to see you pay some attention to snipe too, I love hunting snipe! I thought you did have a Barrow's goldeneye in one of your pics, but I don't know them very well.

well done... nice mix of species and hunting areas. I agree with Longwalker... good to see people shooting snipe (and not just any sandpiper that they assume are snipe!).

Sadly, we don't get many through here in the fall... they seem to head south before flocking up.
