A Winchester Model 70

Hit the gun club with my Model 70 tonight. It’s been a long time since I squinted through a 3x weaver at a 4” target at 100 yards but I threw some lead at it for the hell of it. Factory W-W and R-P loads. The thing shot like a Remington!

That is awesome! Especially for the period optics. Great looking and shooting freezer filling classic

The vintage factor is high with the K3 which I can appreciate. If I didn’t need to punch out that rear sight that’s been there for longer then I’ve been alive, it would wear a 3-9 Leupold by now. Keeping it kinda original and complete helps me appreciate nice modern optics and triggers. It’s all fun.

The old Weaver K's were good scopes and tougher than a lot of new models.

They sure are! And lots of todays scopes are straight junk. But we get to brag about the "glass" lol.

But the Weaver 3 banger there sure aint the easiest to shoot good groups with and I commend his ability :)

Not much feels/carries better than one of those on those rifles too though!

you can't afford a top quality scope

Hunted with a 3x Weaver on a sporterised 96 Swede for a few years. ALways worked. - dan

*Sigh*

You know "lots" does not mean "top quality" right? That's kind of the very definition of "top quality". You're being obtuse looking for fights where none need be had lol.

But yes, I've used a few. Let's say I've used enough of everything by now that I know what i like, and its mid level.

There are certainly pricer scopes. And I bet they are prettier to look through. But I also bet they're more fragile inside :p I'll settle on one of these guys or an older fixed power Leupold IF it jives with the stock length of the rifle. They often need to be mounted too far forward for my liking. But they're tough.

If you want to prove me wrong feel free to beat on your "top level" scopes then box test them lol.

:)

Back on topic, while anachronistic and certainly not looking as much like it belongs, the Accupoints are very light, would be at home on a 70 Featherweight or Sporter I think.
