A1 butt stock screw

Hello I was wondering if anybody has swiiched out the standard A2 size butt stock for the earlier A1 style butt? I've read that the A1 is 5/8" shorter in length and the screw to hold the stock to the tube is correspondingly shorter too. Does anybody know the specifics like size and thread pitch for this screw or do I have to cut down an A2 screw? Thanks in advance. Cheers

Either screw will work with either a1 or a2 stock. The a2 length is only needed when using the a2 spacer. when using with a1 I just screw it in........

If you use an A2 screw in an A1 stock without the spacer, the buffer will hit the screw.

Yeah thats what I heard. You can't use the spacer and have the shorter A1 stock fit. The spacer has to come out and a 5/8ths inch shorter screw has to go in. I read the overall length for the new shorter screw is 9/16th. I was wondering if these can be found or is their a replacement screw at home depot or cut the old one down? Thanks for the info
