I'm considering ordering the Savage A22 FV-SR as a first rifle.

From what I can see this rifle includes a picatinny rail for scope mounting but no iron sights.

I feel like I should get a rifle that has iron sights for my first rifle. Is this a good route to go? I've seen some people post about other A22 versions they've gotten that include iron sights but it's hard for me to tell for sure. Am I overthinking this? Will I miss the ironsights if I go with the FV-SR? Or is there a different A22 version I can get that I can be confident of getting the ironsights with.

It’s good to learn how to use iron sights. I would get one with irons that you can add a scope to later. At 22 ranges you can get surprisingly good accuracy with irons.

I have to agree with this as irons don't usually add much if anything to the price, plus shooting irons is usually faster on target than a scope, and can be a lot of fun.

I have sat out more than a few rifles because of a lack of irons. If your optic ever gets messed up in any way (knocked out of zero, red dot battery dies...etc), you can always revert to good old irons. Just my 2 cents.
