A3 vs A4 AR upper

Mark, if we are talking military nomenclature the M16 series don't have M4 feedramps - it was a design "change" to allow Colt to be able to trademark the "M4" name. Remember that whole goofy lawsuit with Bushmaster, hence why there is M4-like or M4gery. I am not saying you can't have a civilian AR15 with M4 feedramps but you won't find M4 feedramps in the US or CAD military on the M16, C7 or C8 series rifles; only on the M4 series. That is reason why I said if we are going by Military nomenclature; otherwise all bets are off.

I'm not talking "military nomenclature" since there's no point and that wasn't the question started by the thread... the question was about commercial manufacturers using the term A3 and A4 and what was the "difference" in their usage context.

Commercial guns sold to civilians are not M16 military firearms. I never suggested that M16's had M4 feedramps... the guy was asking about civilian/commercial guns not military M16's.

The M4 designation on the Military Firearm goes way beyond the feedramps... the feedramps were simply one of many design features of that particular model designation. They also appear in the commando (10.5"/11.5") versions which if memory serves is where they were originally developed.
