hey guys im looking to buy my frist semi auto shotgun i have been doing my research and have narrowed it down to the super vinci and the a400 extreme, just wondeing if anyone has any thoughts on the two guns, a few guys i hunt with have sbe 2's and they have problems shooting target loads, does the vinci have the same problem due to the inertia drive? i wouldnt want to spend that money on a gun and have it jam when i am shooting skeet:s so if u dont mind giving me some pointers or opinions on the two that would be awsome
 
Not sure on the target loads as the ones I've seen shoot them no problem. Those are 2 very different handling guns, and you will have to pick them up yourselves to see which one you like better.
 
I think semi's need a break in with heavier loads until they'll reliably cycle all target shot. My Vinci worked fine with win target since shot #1, but not federal. Now after a box of #4 bird shot and a few 3" slugs and buck-shot shells, it cycles everything including rem target that says "not all semi's will cycle" right on the box.

I agree on the different handling. I always recommend shooting before buying if possible because it's the only way I can tell for sure.

I shoot with both eyes open so the mid bead does nothing while shooting, but I do find it useful for one thing.
Close your eyes, shoulder the gun and open your dominant eye. If the mid bead lands on or very near the front bead, the gun should work well for you.

I believe both come with adjustable shims, so you may be able to play around with each to suit you, but I have zero experience with that. I took the easy road and bought the one that I hit the most clays with. :)
 
These questions can't be answered on the internet. 4 years ago I went into the store thinking I was going to buy a Beretta Extrema2, handled it and it just didn't feel right to me. Held and swung a Benelli SBE2, never looked back. After 10's of thousands of rounds it still cycles 100% with the occasional hiccup that I am hoping a beefed up recoil spring will cure.

Best advice like everyone says, go hold one. That will make your decision for you!
 
Alright guys thanks for the time and the replys. I think from whatbi have Heard and read both guns have a big fan base and its what one feels best on my shoulder. Thanks again
 
I should rephrase my comment. I would say without a doubt that most benelli are better handling guns in general. Lighter, slimmer and better balanced. However, beretta may have features that you prefer like aqua, kickoff etc.

I couldn't agree more. I was in exactly the same boat several weeks ago, having convinced myself that what I wanted was a Beretta A400 -- having to clean a gas gun seemed a reasonable price to pay for the (perhaps theoretical) recoil reduction compared to an inertia-driven gun. But the moment I picked it up and mounted the Beretta, it was immediately apparent that the fit just wasn't there and that I would be shooting over my target unless I really tried to crane my face down onto the stock -- clearly, that wasn't going to work. After handing the Beretta back to the guy behind the counter, I tried a Benelli Vinci -- which fit much better, but felt a bit awkward with its somewhat peculiar forend design. So then I tried throwing a Benelli SBE II up to my shoulder and, I kid you not, I could hear the angels of wingshooting singing heavenly praises :) No matter how many times I threw it up, the two beads were perfectly and consistently aligned.

Bottom line is that fit is everything in a shotgun, and the only real way to know what one is for you is to try shouldering them. Shotguns are like women -- you'll know the right one when you mount it :)
 
And just for the record in the past year I was faced with same question... So I bought an a400 xplor unico, an a400 xtreme unico optifade, a Vinci, and a super Vinci so at least u know my vote comes with some type of experience... I personally prefer the benelli's however the beretta's are defineately not junk.. Also great guns just not for me
 
Guys at my club shoot both including me. The Vinci is picky about light loads while I have hand loaded down to 7/8oz at 1020 fps in my Extreme with no issues -- best platform out there.
 
I used my A400 Xtreme for everything, from light target loads to heavy 3.5" loads. She's a workhorse, and she's my favourite! Wouldn't trade her for anything

A400 for my vote, you will not be disappointed!
