Hi folks,

Looking for a semi-auto 12 gauge primarily for clay shooting. I would like to stay around the $1000 dollar mark and am looking at 3 potential guns to fit the bill.

A400 (light) is on sale locally for $1100, the SX3 (also on Sale) for $950, and the Silver for about $1050 (not on sale).

Give a choice of these 3 which would be the best buy?

Any other suggestions (within my budget) are welcomed as well...

I bought the Silver. It shoots like a champ and eats everything from light target loads to heavy magnums no problem. As soft shooting and fast cycling as I could hope for. Great gun, and it's a pretty one, too.

Was just in the exact same boat last week - wanted a new semi for trap, maybe hunting down the road. Went with the SX3. Couldn't be happier so far.

I have an SX2 that has seen 50 000 rounds if not more... And is still my favorite gun to bring hunting.

My vote is SX3

My vote is for the A400. I have one and would never trade it for anything. Great gun. That being said they are all good guns so it will come down to which one fits you better.

I have an SX2 and SX3, have shot the Silvers, golds, the First A400 in Canada and a few various berettas in your price range.

I quite frankly would buy whatever gun you can get the most features on for the lowest price. There is not a whole lot of difference in performance and with adjustable shims they can all fit you.

My Sx3 20 fell into my lap and I am glad it did. Something to consider is after market chokes for the Wins and Browning are more available.

Have an origional SX1 field and a new A400 Unico. Love both, but the A400 is obviously much newer and lighter. If I were doing it today I'd buy the A400 again. Fits like a third arm, eats absolutely everything, swings and points naturally.

I've narrowed my choices to two, either the SX3 or the A400.

Sounds like they are both very good guns so I think it's going to boil down to which one fits/feels better. At this point I'm kinda leaning towards the SX3 if for no other reason than saving $150 dollars.

Thanks for all the advice/opinions! :)

I just picked up an SX3. Its been awesome. The A400 light is a great value at that price but I'm pretty sure there's none left so you could be waiting a while to actually get you're hands on it.

Yup they were sold out in a day I think. I did get a rain check, but no ETA.

If a good deal on an SX3 comes along I might jump at it.
