A5 bolt stuck to the rear

May be you should ask the guy who sold you the gun to find out how hard he swing the gun against a tree (bent receiver or barrel extension,) did you fired the gun before you start the disassemble ( clean up)

Nope; hadn't fired it yet. I wanted to make sure the friction rings were set up fight and there wasn't any hidden garbage in it and of course there was...

It does kind of look like that, doesn't it? Going to add tightening that down to my list. It's flopping about in the barrel extension though; not much spring action. There is supposed to be a spring in there, no?

That's always a possibility, but I'm thinking Claybuster was suggesting use an ereosol spray solvent and flush the crap out of it.
Like spray it down once every season ... and then let it dry and use some G-96 lube on it.
Then again maybe he has a better idea ....
How full is the cuss jar and are you holding your tongue in the left or right corner of your mouth while bearing down on this project?
Rob

Not very.

My experience with this sort of thing is that I have overlooked some small detail, thought I had done something when I hadn't, ect, that will be obvious in retrospect and easy to account for in the future. No sense getting upset about; I'm learning.

Can you find out if the gunsmith removed the extension from the barrel to repair the bent? Look at the barrel, It should have a punch mark, (strait line) The line should line up perfectly with the extension line.

I have had this happen on the odd occasion. Usually a small mistake upon reassembly of the gun! I think the removal of the barrel extension would be quite noticeable as I believe a bit of heat is required.

Yeah, I'm not tracking on that one jpbcal308; the barrel extension you mean or something else? Because the barrel extension is part of the barrel, no?

TO answer your question though; the guys at the shop were not sure just what the gunsmith did; just that he did it. I couldn't find any sign of tool marks.
