I call BS on the no maintenance. Unless its a safe queen at some point you will have to clean it. In a way a semi auto is a machine. I am sure it will take a lot before it needs maintenance but lets be honest, no maintenance is a lie.

They also said the AR15 did not need maintenance in Vietnam. How did that turn out? The Lee Enfield was not always issued with a cleaning kit. Are they in pristine condition?

I have always wanted a fully auto one!!
But realistically my mk12 looks better and can take 3" shells.

The M16 (not AR 15) was touted as a self cleaning rifle in its early days. This, of course turned out to be not correct. But from what I have read, the biggest problem that led to so many stoppages during combat was the US Army changing the loading of the issued ammunition and the decision to use a non-chrome lined barrel or chamber. In a hot, damp, corrosive environment like a jungle.

Just a reminder that the top-down management structure doesn't always work. I can't imagine having a rifle that refuses to work when people 40 feet away are shooting at you.
