175 meters wow. I could see whole squads of troops armed with these for urban combat. That new line of projectile ammo is incredible.

This is the Atchisson Assault 12 developed by Maxwell G. Atchisson in the mid 1970's, I wonder why it hasn't been produced until now?

Where does the recoil go? They don't explain how the action works at all.

it has a heavy bolt, 42 ounces,that along with a straight line stock,slow rate of fire(320 rds per min and being an autoloader take care of the recoil.The bolt and gas piston travel farther with heavier loads,less distance with light loads.It also weighs about 15 lbs loaded

Might not have been put into production until now since in the 1970's the main enemy were the Soviets, which if any conflict was to occur with them it would probably either consist of nukes or a conventional war. Nowadays with conflicts occurring in urban areas in Iraq and such the need for a close quarters auto-shotgun might be more viable. I dunno though, just my thoughts.

I had a chance to play with one at the Albany OR full auto shoot a while back.
I wonder if it is somehow related.

The fin-stabilized HE round looks cool. You can bet that before that goes into production, they will change the shape somehow, like adding a belt to the case, to prevent stolen rounds being chambered in civvy 12 gauges.
