800X is a good powder, but does not throw reliably in my Dillon.

I have HS6 and HS7 on hand, but they do not give top velocity in the Rowland.

AA powders seem to be the best, but I have never seen it available in Canada.
 
I have had a bottle of AA#7 on my shelf for years. I have tried it in a number of calibers but always seem to settle on something else, probably in part because I'm not sure I could reliably replace it. I don't even remember where I got it, but if I wanted some more I think I would try The Shooting Edge first, they seem to have non-Hodgdon powders more often than anyone else.

Longshot should be easier, it is a Hodgdon powder so it's what most shops carry, though given the current supply situation it may be temporarily unavailable.
 
The Shooting Edge got out of reloading stuff a couple of years ago. Ganderite -PM me if you want to know where to find the AA9 in Canada, not giving up my favorite fishing hole to the general community.

Oh, I didn't realize that.

There is a guy who tours the big prairie gun shows hawking reloading components, he seems to have oddball stuff that no one else does. He goes under the name Rayn'er Shine Gunworks, his website lists both the AA7 and AA9, and given the pricing on primers it looks like he keeps it up to date.

Accurate Arms powders out of McEwen,TN & Accurate powders out of Miles City,MT

They are NOT the SAME powders or burn rates.

Accurate powders being of faster burn rate by comparison.

#5,#7,#9 are not the cleanest burning in semi auto pistol chamberings,but it meters well & shoots consistently.

I've burn up kegs of #5,#7,& #9 over the years & will continue.
 
AA9 will give you top velocities in 10mm but it requires massive charges. I think I used 14-15 grains for a 180 FMJ..? The stuff is such a pain to find it has been a long while... Longshot will give you top end velocity in both the 10mm and .460. It's a great powder IMO. AA9 is a great .357 Magnum powder. Much less flash than H110 or 2400 with slightly higher velocity. I know you aren't soliciting opinions but there is mine anyway... I may have missed it mentioned already but Rayner Shine out of Saskatchewan carries AA powders. He never seems to have kegs so I have never bothered.

But with 460 Rowland and 10mm the only objective is velocity and special powders are called for.

I buying a jug if IMR Blue, too.
 
Blue Dot was my go-to for 10mm before I found Longshot. Both give top velocity but the charges are smaller and the muzzle flash is not so ridiculous with Longshot. Let us know how the IMR stuff does, I'm quite interested.

Just for info...
IMR has discontinued IMR Blue, Red, Green production. I got this directly from them last month as I was going to try Blue in an old favorite Blue Dot load.
