AAC Honey Badger

canadian is nice, but the honey badger is 200% better looking imo

The awesome paintjob goes a long way.
If the NEA had the same treatment, it'd be just as slick (oh the AAC stock does look a bit more slick then the SPEX, but can live with that)

Anyone have any insight as to how they got that look.color with the Honey Badger?

We'll anodize any of our products any color that you'd like as long as it's black.

Anodizing I would imagine. I have a gerber knife with a similar colour anodizing.

are you planning on making any in 9mm and if so what would the ballpark be ?

I gotta agree.

Taking a closer look at the two, that honey badger is as close to a perfectly machined AR as I've ever seen. From the milled slots for the stock rails to the trigger guard (nice!) to the flare in the magwell to the integration between the upper and handguard and even the control ports...that thing is pure ###. Very clean looking.

The other one looks like a typical tacticool shorty AR build...a lower with a bunch of stuff bolted on. ...speaking of that, does anybody else see the shiny rails of the stock interfering with the selector?

So the question begging to be answered....will we see the AAC up here ever?
I'd part with one of my RFB's to get one :)

To be fair, the Honey Badger probably costs at least 3x, if not 4x more than the NEA.

According to Google there are only 6 in existance so... not even your average Yankee can buy one.

Maybe NEA can make a special Canadian version of this... anno it tan/gold and call it the Rabid Beaver

The rails don't interfere with the selector

I dont know what versions NEA may or may may not be planning to make, however a 9mm blowback requires a heavy buffer to balance the momentum of the bullet. And the PDW stock does not use a buffer so it can't be used for such a system. I have heard of gas impingement pistol caliber AR uppers but I don't really know much about them so can't really comment.

Remember that ours was designed from the beginning to retrofit onto existing AR15's, a more integrated unit may be available down the road if I ever have any spare time to draw it up. The SPEX unit was designed from concept to machined prototype in about 6 weeks on our own dime, how much R&D $$$ do you think Remington dumped into theirs?

Also, while the Honey Badger might look pretty, good luck getting one- at least until they rectify the problems they've been having with excessive spring wear in their buffer system (strangely you haven't heard much about this I bet)

I had to beg Mers at AAC to ship tshirts to Canada. let alone guns. lol.

I sent them an email about some of their reasonably nifty t-shirts and other gear but didn't get a reply.

Sounds like a story here. Please elaborate.

I doubt there's any real "story" there, it's just they can't be bothered to ship outside the US...certainly their right to make that decision.

having said that though...i'd gladly plonk some cash down for an NEA "SPEX" style rifle either in 9mm or .223/5.56.

I'm sure their 'Clothing line' is Not ITAR controlled. Or any of the 'Kewl' manufacturers. If you really wanted a shirt, hat or beer opener, can't you just get a buddy in the states to mail you one?
