Guys any info to pass on regarding these BOSS Abolt rifles?
im lookng at a cheap one in 300 win mag for Alpine hunting , i was tossing up with 7 Rm but the 300 for right price has appeared, not failiar with BOSS, expect it to be Loud?!? but in the Alpine tops the noise is often swallowed quick and im not too worried, will use plugs on range etc..

Any yay or nays?

Thanks!
PS its a Lefty hence why im keen on it.

Its a muzzle break and a «#tuner#». Suggested sweet spot to adjust from company and from experience.
I had one in 7wsm and still regret selling it. If you like the rifle, it’s shooting good go!

I have an Abolt in 7mm Rem Mag with the Boss system, and I really like it.

They are LOUD with the Boss... So, if recoil is not a concern you can use the Boss CR (Conventional Recoil) which does not have the ports drilled...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Here's me sighting in before the moose hunt last week.

Browning Abolts are very accurate rifles with or without the BOSS.
Replace the trigger spring and the trigger will go down to 2lbs.
A stainless left hand one is a good find as there isn't many around.

I had one in 300 wsm. It was obnoxiously loud. Even with the other cr it was still loud. I sold it only for that reason and I don't regret it. I shot it once approx 8 feet from my son and his ears rang for days. That was it for me.

I had an abolt in 300 win mag with the boss. That dam thing is a paper weight on a good day. Cut the barrel down to 24” and save your hearing. They are loud !!

I have a abolt 7mm it is loud , but accurate when, adjusting the boss, you can adjust it to your own loaded ammo.
My main hunting rifle for years, Abolt stainless stalker 7mm, has never failed me

I have a 90s Abolt II in 7mm mag with the BOSS. It is easily one of my more accurate rifles and that muzzle brake is very efficient. Recoil is like 260, maybe even less.

I am a little over 40 and my ears are not healthy from all the years of hunting without ear protection. I almost never take this great shooting rifle out hunting for fear I might have to actually fire it.

It is relegated to treestand and open field hunting where muffs can be applied. Only problem, this represents almost zero of my hunting.

I've used my .300 with just the brake..I do have the CR and would use for hunting
Double muffs for me ..works well.. The Boss system does work
Buy and enjoy.. I would like to lighten up the trigger.. but not worth putting money into for mods
I've got a .375 H+H with the Boss also and it likes 260 gr. Nosler partitions once I found the sweet spot
Both are the stainless synthetic model

They are loud !!
There was a regular shooter who had one at the range on occasion. A-Bolt 30-06 with a BOSS. It was very accurate, but when he touched it off it would kill the grass 10yds out in all directions and blow sand against all the cars.

We voted him off the island ............. I'm serious.

ha ha supercub!!!

old mate isnt replying to my emails, im not too sure if he will budge on price, 750 plus post from tasmania.... il try for 7

How is it any louder than any other muzzle break?

Here a little more info on the A-Bolt. Bottom pad came off an A-Bolt 375H&H, middle pad off a Rem 700 and the top pad went on another 375H&H.

Based on this pic alone, I wouldn't own any A-Bolt in any magnum chamberings.

$750aud would be a good price for a Stainless Stalker in an A- bolt II.
Bit pricey for a blued version.
The .300 will chuck lead down range and knock them out of their boots.
Get rid of that solid recoil pad and get something nice and soft and squishy, your shoulder will thank you for this.
Mine liked 180 grn Nosler Particians, bears didn’t....
Good Hunting WL.

I don't know?? I just don't have any problem with excessive noise or recoil from the .300 or .375 Browning Boss system
The last 2 summers I've been going to 1040 yds. with the .300 with the brake
Nosler 180 gr. ballistic tip
I was tempted on the 06 stainless Boss a couple of weeks back..on the EE..must of sold.. never saw it bumped

understand the recoil pad situation, i have owned a 300 wsm previously, a bolt II ......
one of the first thngs id do is the recoil pad upgrade!

yep copy that on the stainless, it is indeed, whic is why im fairly keen also!

It's not only the type but the pad size/foot print is a big factor in managing recoil. The A-Bolt pads are quite small and all the recoil is concentrated to a small area. This will be a factor if the BOSS is removed.

I owned an A-bolt with Boss in 7mmremmag, many years ago, because I wanted to try the Boss system. It was extremely loud, I wore double hearing protection at the range, and would not dare fire a single shot without hearing protection. As for the Boss, once dialed in to the load, it was accurate, but it took as many shots to dial it in, as it typically takes me to work up a handload.
