Hello Everybody,
I would like to know about the quality of SIMSON Shotgun made by GDR (East Germany).
How is the quality in compare with Old Merkel, and new shotguns in marketing like Browning 725 or Beretta 686?

This is the Second time that I have posted this question. Last Time just two nature men replied it.

I want to use just for upland and use lead shot.

Regards,

One of the very best smiths I know shoots a Simpson. Has had plenty of opportunity to acquire guns with much better names. When I asked him about it he said "fine quality and nobody charges for them"

Simson is a well made firearm. If the shotgun fits, is in overall great condition, has the approrpiate chokes and priced right then go for that - seeking some form of comparison with the different makes cited above is neither here nor there (in many ways).

Here's a nice one.

I don't know about in Canada but the posters on DG forums suggest that while made in the same factory as Merkel and Sauer and to the same quality levels (all three brands offered varying quality levels), Simpson's tend to trade at a discount of about 30% to the other two simply because of a lack of brand name awareness. Given that, and given comparable guns, I would take a Simpson every time over a Merkel or Sauer.

I like to pay for quality, not brand name recognition.
