About the girl killed by coyotes.....

far as I know they didnt kill her only mauled her pretty good. cops shot one of em and were out looking for the other one.

I dont understand what your getting at, why wouldn't it be a problem?

Sorry- poor grammar on my part causing confusion. When I said:
If people aren't willing to spend even 20$ (its free in BC and AB and 9.75$ in ON) to solve (shoot) a problem (wolf) then it doesn't sound like much of a problem to me.
The *it* was meant to be wolves. As in 'if its not worth a 20$ permit to kill problem wolves than problem wolves can't be much of a problem'.
[Aside- when I trapped in ON all you needed was a licence and a trapline to target furbearers of any type, do you need a wolf licence now?]

In the case of these coyotes, my experience from living in NS and working in Cape Breton isn't that there is an overabundance (and this was in a park anyways) that need trapping/shooting.

I read in the Post today that the girls mom was upset they were hunting the coyote that killed her daughter. She claims her daughter would not want them to kill the coyotes.

Are you fugging kidding me. Let them live so that they can kill another person. So I guess according to the mother the young girl must have been trying to hug the wild coyotes, and pet them.

I am sure when she was attacked she would have given anything for someone to shoot the two of em.

I just can't believe the tree hugging hippy B.S. coming out of peoples mouths these days. They would gladly let these animals attack people but at the same time don't want us to have any guns to protect ourselves. This country is doomed.

Back in the 1980's when coyotes were starting to become a problem in Cape Breton - a conservation officer there at the time told me that at a town hall meeting a wildlife biologist proposed air drops of a vaccine/laced food packets that would sterilize them.

One older farmer upon hearing this solution stood up and said:

'geezuzHchrist B'y thar eatin our sheep not fcukin dem.'

a healthy large male coyote in our area of southern ontario will weigh 40 to 50 pounds but by the time you get them to the field edge they have gained what seems to be an extra 20 pounds .they can be bold coming up to farm buildings at night and i have had them take ducks out of my yard . they do not seem to fear dogs as i have seen them face each other .a gun they do understand as they lose some boldness when they are getting shot at .

hmmm time to go kick ass wild on em, theres a pack thats been making my cow herd skittish must be 15 of them. I've gone out at night when their running in the woods around my back pasture and turned lose a few loads of #4 shot at them dosnt scare them much they keep coming back.

A quote--"I read in the Post today that the girls mom was upset they were hunting the coyote that killed her daughter. She claims her daughter would not want them to kill the coyotes."

Judging by what I had read about the whole thing, I suspected there may be something like this.
That is why I earlier said there was a good chance she had been feeding them.

up in northern ontario, a friend of mine owned a few dobermans and the coyotes killed one, they sent one coyote in to play with the dog and then it would run back into the woods luring it to where the rest of the pack was and then all attacked the doberman.

i wonder how many people have to be attacked before we are allowed to carry for wilderness protection, lol with our gov they will justify banning firearms will stop coyote attacks

Alberta cootes do that too.

Yes you can still trap most furbearers as wanted (beaver, fisher, martin, lynx, wolverine are quoted) no you dont need any other licence or tag. Most trappers aren't going to spend hours of hard work trapping something with little return thow.

So......I wonder how they're going to find THE other coyote. Maybe it had a name tag.

Most of the tree huggers In know don't feed wildlife.

The girl died a very unpleasant death. Suggesting she brought this on herself by doing something as moronic as feeding these yotes is disrespectful-unless you actually know something.
