About to buy a new gun but what if I cant shoot a 3" mags?

Blasted Saber - I have an older Wingmaster (deluxe grade, with fixed full choke) that I use for trap shooting - I got it for cheap because of the fixed choke. I also recently purchased a 870 Express, when I decided to also shoot skeet and ducks. Thing is, I was able to buy a complete, lightly used, Express for less than the price of a new Wingmaster barrel, and not much more than the cost of a new Express barrel.
Of course, now I can swap barrels if I want to take the Wingmaster skeet shooting. However, the Wingmaster is pristine, so it stays home for ducks and upland game.
My used Express works fine, and I dont care if it gets beat up. My Wingmaster is obviously better quality, but its modern equivalent is 2-3 times the cost of a new Express. Even a used one with Remchokes will run in the 5 - 600 range.

You're limited a little bit by the 2-3/4" only chamber. You're more limited by your lack of wingshooting ability. Right now, you'll be glad to be hitting ducks and geese flying into the decoys, and 2.75" is fine for that. Don't worry about it. Spend a ton of cash on shells and shoot lots of trap & skeet. No better way to learn.
