Hey guys,

I have an Original AC44 Nazi Walther P.38 and was just wondering what its worth? The pistol has all matching serial numbers and Waffenampts, and a magazine that has the same number Waffs on it. The barell is in alright shape, a little shiney with some light pitting throughout, but with really decent rifiling. I have never shot it and cannot attest to the accuracy of the pistol. The pistol however has one problem, it is missing the retainer latch plunger spring (numerich has it listed for 7$, just out of stock), and as such the pin to hold the pistols slide in place just sits there, an easy fix im told. Asides from that the pistol is in good shape, with some handling marks. The pistol has the Nazi swastika eagle on the slide with a Waff on either side. I also have 5 rounds of Nazi era 9mm all black ammo and the papers from the col who brought it back from Germany in the 70's.

I was just wondering as to what everything is worth in this shape?

ArtyMan,

What you have there looks like a nice condition AC 44. A most common, if not THE most common P38, they produced 120 000 of these in 1944. Reddish-plum colored frame is correct as would be Eagle 359 Waffenampts on slide, frame, bbl & locking block. Brownish-Red colored bakelite grips are standard on these but color varies with the amount of filler used. Condition is the main factor with a pistol like yours. I'd say a 95% pistol with a vg-exc bore would fetch a $550-575.00 price. But anywhere in between $475-650.00 would be fair, depending on the buyer....

I'd have to check the parts bin for a locking bolt plunger-spring.....
