Accessorizing My New 1911 Norc

What add-ons do you guys recomend for Norinco 1911?
Grips for sure, those GI bone stock plastic feel horrible, wood or rubber?
Sights? Not really an issue as its my first handgun and first semi I will have used so I am sure the gun will shoot better than I can.
Guide rod and spring? Stock spring OK, any need for full length GR?
Mags yes only came with one.
Holster, needed?
Trigger, see sights?

Yeah, a 'tuned' Norc 1911 from Armco... :cool:

Personally, I'd add wrap around Pachmayr grips [flat ones with no thumb swells], adjustable three hole aluminum trigger, a full length guide rod and a set of hi-viz sites. Good to go, then....;)
 
things i would get...in this order..

1. novak or hienie sights
2. commander hammer and hi ris beavertail
3. trigger with trigger job
4. FLGR with 14lb springs
5. ambi safety
6. mgwell
 
things I added to my Norc 1911

McCormick:
skeletonized hammer,
high rise beavertail
skeletonized 'long' trigger

Kings: target match bushing

the bushing needed to be reemed a touch. And the bevertail required a littel filing for the best fit and finish.
 
Things I added to my Norc Commander.

Pierce Rubber Grips
McCormick Trigger
McCormick Low Rise Rear Sight
King Front Sight
Wilson Combat Beavertail
Wide Thumb Safety
Blade-Tech Holster and Mag Pouch

If I had to choose what to repace first it would be the sights.

Here's what I did...started with a tuned 1911 from Gunnar, 3 pound trigger...etc. Was it ever nice when I got it.....I never thought it would be possible to de-value a Norc, but I did it :D :D

It is just a plinker to play around with, new trigger, STI beaver tail, STI hammer, STI Slide stop, bushing comp, polished sides, grips, red dot, etc..

My NP29 ? I replaced the cheesy Hogue wannabe grips with a set of skinny Pearce "diamond" rubber grips. Then I had a spare extended wide slide stop in the parts bin, so the stock slide stop went back into the plastic carry case. I then slapped a FLAT Mainspring housing since my hands are medium sized.

I haven't gotten around to replacing the sights for a while. I did sandblast the entire pistol and re-parkerized it all inside 2 hours. Did it ever turn out so beautifully.

My Norinco .45 that is currently dedicated to a Wilson Combat .22 LR conversion kit had the BUL Trigger Job kit installed and now the trigger pull is short and sweet at 4 lbs. This included a new sear, disconnector, sear spring, mainspring, recoil spring, and skeletonized hammer. Then I installed a FLAT Mainspring housing and a pair of Pearce Thin rubber diamond grips, too.

The Norinco 1911 series of pistols (along with the M305's) has to be one of the best values in Canada. Welcome to the addiction.

As it's a first handgun, maybe spend money on mags and ammo and go shoot it. Putting rounds downrange will let you know exactly what you want to change, as not everybody likes the same mods.

I've bought a Norinco .45 1911A1 JUST for the sole purpose of shooting .22 LR with my Wilson Combat (read: Ciener) .22 LR conversion kit. It's just fabulous. I dropped a BUL trigger kit that lightened and shortened the trigger. It came with a skeletonized hammer. Then I added a flat mainspring housing for my smaller hands and my wife's hand, too. The entire package is flawless. The Ciener / Wilson kit shoots like a house on fire with hardly any FTE's or FTF's... well maybe if I really attempted to "limp wrist" things, but the high velocity .22's from Cambodian Tire (Federal Bulk Pak 525 Count at $ 13.99) work very well. Oh yeah, I dropped in a "no frame modification" Beavertail grip safety, most likely made off-shore. I did not modify the Norinco frame in any way. The pistol is fabulous. The Norinco is made to spec and it's just a wonderful range gun that uses my existing M1911/Browning HP holsters. All the friends I take to the range love this pistol the most. You cannot go wrong with the Ciener kit. Too bad JA Ciener and his organization are a bunch of idiots when it comes to customer service. Now, on the other hand.... www.p-d-ent.com are the Distributors of Wilson Combat products here in Canada. Give them a shout and buy the Wilson Combat conversion kit (Ciener) ... they can get extra magazines at $ 65.00 each, pricey, but you will get lotsa use out of the .22 LR kit. Trust me on this one.

1911 accessories

Where's a good online store to get value-priced accessories for the 1911a1? I know that you can get out of the US, but I'd much rather get out of Canada.

This accessorizing thing sounds fun, however my preliminary shopping rounds in local gun stores have brought up $120 ambi safeties, $80 triggers, and other high priced stuff. Very little selection.
 
Thanks for all the input guys, sounds like sights are gonna be one of the first to go. Right after those GI grips. How much of the work had to be done by a 'smith. As I am still waiting for my long term ATT I have very little intrest in crating this gun up and shipping it off for god knows how long. I just wanna shoot is that so wrong.

I really cant believe how sweet some of those Norcs look all dressed up. I really like those aluminium triggers. Good number of mags=2/3?
