Accidentally fired .223 out of 7.62x39 rifle

Surprised it fired. I let a friend load magazines and he ended up using .223 in one and tried firing it out of my Vz 58. The cartridge got stuck. First and last time I let anyone load my mags, experience be damned.

Sounds like a missed learning experience for your friend.

Why did YOU let him load YOUR mags into YOUR gun ?

Was the .223 beside the 7.62x39 ?

Friends teach friends how to load mags and guns safely.

Because he has his PAL, years of experience, owns some of the same firearms I do, and isn't a complete idiot (or so I thought at the time). I had him load magazines to save time, and was watching him initially. The .223 and 7.62 were both clearly marked, kept apart, and looked distinct from each other. Of course one of the times I'm not paying attention he goes full retard. I was not very impressed.

Was more a learning experience for me not to trust anyone but myself when it comes to my firearms; direct supervision all the time, no matter what, no matter who.

So I got an update from the gunsmith today. Aside from having to clean out the unburnt powder and the remnants of brass, there was no damage done to the gun.
