Which would you use for moose, elk etc...Nosler Accubond or Partition bullets?

I'll be using a Remington 700 .338 WinMag and will go with 250gr bullets.

Tell me which bullet you prefer and why, and feel free to share your favorite loads.

Thanks ;)

I've shot elk with 160 gr accubonds from my .280...the results were messy to say the least . I have also taken moose with 250 gr partitions in my .338. No contest in my mind ...I shoot partitons in nearly all my hunting loads now. I've since sold my .338 but will own another one soon and it will be partitions or tsx for me. Accubonds left a bad impression with me and i won't use them anymore.Mearly my opinion.....take it for what its worth.

db73, very good advice.
What works for one generally will not work for another.
I tried a recommendation once for my .270 and the results where disasterous.
What generally happens BB someone says this is the best and will work for you 100% of the time and there is a F&^%up , who do you fall back on to ask questions?
The Keyboard hero on the other side of the country?
Stick with one bullet one powder and do some testing yourself.
I would put my money on the Nosler Partions though.
Just my .02 opine tonight.

In a .338WM? Either will work. Actually, if you're hand loading, and you're thrifty, just get a 250gr Hornday IL. It will perfrom just as well as either of those Noslers and it will be even cheaper.

Accubonds are superb bullets, and they are less money than Partitions.

My load in .338WM for years has been 67grs IMR-4350 with the 225gr Partition. Fabulous performance on moose and bears.

I shot my '08 bull with 225tsx from the .338WM. He didn't like them at all. Truth be told, I'd use accubond, partition or tsx and have no second thoughts. Although, I'd go 210 or 225 myself...Still debating whether to use 210TTSX or the 225TSX again this year...

I have shot moose and elk with both accubonds and partitions. The .338 I was using was a .338 RUM which fires them at considerably higher velocities. I have never recovered either of these types of bullets from game when using this caliber as both have penetrated through and through. Excellent wound channels, etc. Never lost an animal. Incredible accuracy with the accubonds and supposedly better ballistic coefficients, etc. You can't go wrong with either, but I prefer the accubonds. I don't plan on switching any time soon.

Been shooting the 210 partition for years 69.5 gr. IMR 4350 chronos out 2775. This Summer I am going to play with 180 gr. accubonds. I have no idea yet for a load. The Partitions work extreamlly well for me and have brought me home a few moose.

If you can shoot both will the job for you.All of my hunting bullet is NP.

I copied this post I made a while ago from another thread....titled 'Accubond vs. Partition' coincidentally enough...

-----------------------
I've shot a moose at just under 100 yards with the .30 cal 200gn NAB:
MV was 3145
3 shots, all exited - 2 through the heart - lungs, one through the shoulders.
No signs of over expansion / breakup.

Earlier I was using the .30 cal 165 NAB:
MV was 3565
I shot 2 deer, both at just under 100 yards, both shots exited with no signs of over expansion / breakup.

I shot a moose at 30 yards, 3 shots if I recall correctly (I keep shooting until they're down. This moose and the one mentioned above were dead on the first shot but still up). All exited but one bullet. It was found under the hide after having penetrated both sets of shoulder bones.

Here's that bullet:

The impact velocity of that bullet would have been around 3496fps. I don't know what more you could ask of a bullet.

The NAB is every bit as tough as the Partition and offers the high BC and accuracy potential of the Ballistic Tip.

I highly recommend it for higher velocity cartridges. (This was a 300 RUM).

Either of your bullet choices will work in your 338 for moose. Actually, most any .338 bullet in the 225gr range and up will do the job well. The 338 penetrates well and shoots pretty flat, but does not generate really high velocities that require expensive bullets.

I've hunted for 20 years with 250gr Gamekings over IMR 4350 and I just reloaded 75 rounds of 225 gr SST's over IMR 4350 yesterday. While I know the Gamekings are accuracte and deadly, I'm sure the SST's will work great as well, for a little less cost.

And I've never met a 338 that wasn't accurate....

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing how well my handloads will shoot. The last moose I took was with Remington Corelokt factory 250gr ammo...mr. moose took 2 steps and dropped dead...I'm sure these Noslers will perform as well or better.

From my limited experience tipped bullets like the accubond seem to preform best at distances farther then 100yds. They have a high BC for long range trajectory if your hunting and your shots are under 100yds then the partition would be my choice.
