So I traded 2 lbs of CFE223 for my buddies old stock of Nosler bullets now that he's hooked on the TTSX koolaid. I've got 150 and 180 Partitions and 180 Accubonds. I have no doubt my old .30-06 and either 180 will work no worse than the Super X 180s that have been cleanly taking moose and deer for decades in that rifle. For my own curiosity and a good read, I'm curious to hear what people's experience with these bullets have been like on big game.

In the 300 WSM my rifle (Tikka T3) likes the 180gr Accubonds. Can't say I've harvested a big game animal yet with this combo but out of a 30-06 I'd go with whichever bullet groups the best in your gun.

If you want 100% guarantee of expansion AND penetration go with a partition. If 98% is good enough for you are extreme long range is your game, go with an accubond.

I have harvested dozens and dozens of moose and deer with both. Partition is my go to bullet, accubond is second and the one I have been playing with the most lately.

The only thing I don't like about the partitions is the lead tip. I've used both lots and the partition always does it's job, no fuss, no muss. Have had decent luck with Accubonds as well but for elk, moose or bear the partition has never let me down. As well I don't know why but in all of my rifles the partitions seem to be more accurate than the accubonds. Can't go wrong with either.

Agree. I am 100% still partitions. It's not broke so I am not fixing it
Cheers

I tried both, shot 3 deer with Accubonds and 1 with a partition....Partitions all the way. On ballistic studies website Nathan often comments that that partition is a spectacular killer and after all this time it hasn't really been improved on (not exact words). Partitions are also more accurate in my rifle

They're all good, go hunting and don't worry about it. Partitions are great, and Accubonds act like Partitions, just a little slipperier is all. Not that it matters at 300.

Having taken well over 100 head of game with the Partition in diameters from .243 up to .338, I have come to trust them implicitly.

The Accubonds I have used so far have performed admirably, but only a small number of animals taken in comparison.

Regards, Dave.

I've actually had a few rifles shoot better with Partition's than Accubond's but that's that mileage variation thing going on.

As for on game performance, that's pretty subjective, as everybody seems to like a slightly different terminal effect. The Nosler products take there fair share of critters, every year, and are quite consistent in their on game performance.

Since its a 30'06 and 180's we are talking about, and therefore sub 2800fps for muzzle velocity, you'll likely see few bullet issues regardless of the type of bullet design you use.

Shoot what shoots best in your rifle, and stuff will die just fine.

Yep........at '06 velocities they are both a waste of money as they are over constructed for your application.......HOWEVER, seeing as how you got them on trade in what sounds like a good deal for you, go ahead and use them you certainly won't be handicapped.

I believe its only when you're using a non optimal caliber ( I have used the 6mm rem almost exclusively) these bullets have greater efectiveness.

The beauty of the partition is it expands and lower velocities when hitting soft tissue, but will still penetrate when it encounters heavy bone. It also works at extreme velocities on both soft tissue and solid bone.

Saying its a waste in an -06 is rather misleading. A partition from an -06 will punch through any bone in a moose or elk, most cup and core bullets will not.

Accubond is the new Partition. Nobody buys Partitions anymore, well maybe an old weathered box at a gunshow? :)

I found the old yellow box Partitions at a garage sale a couple years ago and my son has been feeding them one at a time to several deer, elk, black bear and moose 6.5x55 140gr...........Harold
