Accuracy expectations of a .44 Rem mag

So recently I picked up a Ruger 77/44. Ive been collecting various loads for it, but have yet to get in significant range time.

Just curious what I should be expecting in terms of accuracy. This is my first pistol cartridge rifle, I really have no idea what to expect.

25m? 50m? 100m?

I have the same rifle, I have only shot mine to 25 yards it does outshoot the Rossi it replaced, I bought it for hiking as I have two Golden Retrievers that like to walk but have been known to antagonize bears. With a little work I would be confident to 100 yards. It has a 1 1/2 power scope but I wouldn't mind putting a Ghost ring or Skinner on it. If we have a problem with a bear I am quite confident I can wound one of the dogs and make my escape in the ensuing confusion.
 
I have seen 2" at 100 yards with my Ruger Carbine. I don't see why anything else wouldn't be as accurate, or even more so.

Sorry to sidetracked the thread blasted_sabre, I wasn't being serious, just spent $3000 on one dogs knee, I carry bear spray any trouble one quick shot to my Wife's face and the dogs and I escape in the confusion.

JFC! if only I could git you in my cross hairs or my thumbs on your throat! I'd stand in the front line in front of my dogs and I'd take a bullet for any one of them! So, your just kidding, well what a Piss Poor taste for a Joke! No humor there what so ever!

How many times have we heard the joke about shooting your buddy in the knee in event of a bear attack so you can get away? Everyone laughs. Substitute dog for a HUMAN and everyone gets angry,

Funny how a joke about wounding a human is funny but joke about an animal and you are labeled scum, and even get a death threat. God bless the intraweb. :)
 
awww cmon, he was only joking. Jeesh, some people need to get a book on humour. That was totally funny. To each their own I guess. Some people just can't buy a sense of humour I guess. I have used that joke before , only inserting my fat friends in place of the dog.
 
also intrested in this question i want to get a 44 pistol and rifle from what i've read and seen it matters what the diameter of the barrel is and matching ammo with the tightest clearance i believe its refered to as "slugging" the barrel but there is no reason why it cant be very accurate out to 100yrds with practice
i thought the joke was funny and its funny to me how the social status in terms of importance goes wife, kids, pets ,man! guys how did it come to this??

I shot this group last fall while sighting in my Ruger 44 carbine. I was shooting Hornady 240gr XTP's,

I still can't believe it

Thank you Patrick for getting this thread back on track, and to do it with a great pic. You bring the quality of this read up substantially - back to par.
 
I did not get groups like those, but both my Rossi and my Ruger liked the Hornady XTP but neither liked the Leverevolution.
