Accuracy expectations of a .44 Rem mag

awww cmon, he was only joking. Jeesh, some people need to get a book on humour. That was totally funny. To each their own I guess. Some people just can't buy a sense of humour I guess. I have used that joke before , only inserting my fat friends in place of the dog.

now there is some humor, I love dogs incase you didn't know..........;)

My Ruger 77/44 will shoot 3 shot 1.5" to 2" at 100 yards with Hornardy LeverEvolution from the bench. WW 240 grain white box was not as good. What really helped the rifle was the installation of a Volquartsen sear as the factory trigger pull was very heavy. More importantly with Skinner ghost ring sights I can consistently hit an 10" gong off-hand at 100 yards.

I must be reloading my 44 backwards....I have had two 77/44(still have one) the best I can do at 100 yrds is about 5".

JFC! if only I could git you in my cross hairs or my thumbs on your throat! I'd stand in the front line in front of my dogs and I'd take a bullet for any one of them! So, your just kidding, well what a Piss Poor taste for a Joke! No humor there what so ever!

some people have absolutely no sense of humor (I would easily take a bullet for my dog and i still laughed)

The "ONLY BULLETS" that my 77/44 would shoot under 2" at 100, was weights of 200 and less. I tried everything you can imagine! it was frustrating!
if a 44mag doesn't shoot the 240grain bullet well, its a waste of time in my eyes. (For hunting). otherwise its just a plinker.
after more than a year of playing around with mine, I just gave up and sold it.
I loved everything about the rifle, except the accuracy. Wish mine shot better!

I wish you better luck with yours!

I have a Marlin 1894 with a scope, I just went back in my records and the best I had was 1.4” at 100 yards. That is a 3 shot group with Winchester White Box. I need the scope for my eyes these days before I hear it from the peanut gallery.
The only reloads I have had through her were lead 240 grain SWC with Trail Boss (I tried 6.6 to 8.4 grains). I was shooting off hand at 30 yards and the best group I got was under an inch. This is like shooting a 22 for recoil and noise so it’s great for the kids. At first you think you might have a bullet jammed in the barrel. I was thinking of using these for grouse when I was out. That is why I was shooting at 30 yards and they shoot 4 – 5 inches low depending on the load.
I did not shoot any of my pistol loads through her. My best light pistol load for accuracy is 240 grain SWC with 7.0 grains Unique. I do have some others loaded up but have been shooting too many other firearms to try them.
To answer your question you should be able to group pie plates easily at 100 yards which will knock down the moose or deer this fall.

WOW!!! I have owned many fine dogs, and I have been very fond of, and attached to many of them... I would gladly and without regret "take a bullet" for my children, my wife or my friends... But there is NO WAY on this spinning green ball, that I will "take a bullet" for a dog... No matter how many thousands of hours training has gone into it or how many limits of ducks he/she has retrieved.

Sorry for getting side-tracked OP... I load my .44's with H-110 and either the Hornady 225 FTX or 240 XTP and get consistent 2-3" groups at 100 yards with Skinner peeps and Williams Fire Sight blades. Plenty accurate for our woods whitetail and bear guns... These are walnut/rosewood mannlicher H&R Handi rifles.

well, perhaps your dog will say one day (hopefully;)), there is no way on this spinning green ball I'm gonna get ripped apart and et by that bear to save my unfaithful a-hole undeserving of me master. Think about it, things have a way of working out for the way they should!;) It brings a huge smile to my face, when it works out that way!:)
P.S. I would question that about "your friends", I just don't think you have the balls enough of actually following through with that statement if it came right down to it! Do you? Your own dogs is a no way, so I call BS on you taking a bullet for your friends!;) I think you'd turn yellor and run!
