Good day gentleman,

Does anyone out there happen to have accuracy loads for 308 Win. and H4895 using Sierra 168, 175, 180, 190 all MK. cant get any Varget...........

Oh....it's a Savage 12 BR with a 29' barrel and 1 in 12

Thanking everyone in advance

Go to the Hodgdon load data at the top of this section and you will find loads listed. You will have to work up your loads from there since every rifle is different. I have had good results with IMR 4895 as well.

The 4895's are fast for a long barrel with a heavy bullet. I would look at IMR4064 if I couldn't get Varget.

4895 and 4064 are the same powder composition with different granual sizes. Not much difference, except 4064 tends to fill cases better - but does not meter well.

My load for 168 and 175 is 42gr and 41.5gr. Each rifle is a bit different. I load with bullet well off the lands.

If you can't get varget, RL15 would be a real good choice if you can find it.

H-BLC2 and WW-748 are also good powders for .308 Win..............

I have had great results with H-BLC2...............

I used:

43.0 to 46.0 gr H-BLC2
Fed. Match Case
Fed. 210M Primer
168 gr or 175 gr Sierra Matchking

Reloader 15 was replaced with IMR4064 in the long range rounds due to its poor temperature stability.

This is the data card for what is know as MK 316 Mod 0 (NSN: 1305-01-567-6944), the round that replaces M118LR:

For the 168's I've had really good results with 39.0gr 4895. This is a mild load but performs well out to at least 300M. (Sub MOA and frequently has given sub 1/2 MOA when I'm lucky). I'm unsure of its performance beyond the 300mark though.
