Whats the Accuracy of a 14.5" 1-9 AR15? Out to say 600yrds?

I'm thinking of doing some service rifle shooting with it(shoots out to 500m), but I also want to do some Urban sniper matches that will shoot out to ~600yrds.
Wondering what groups people have out to ~500-600m.

Or should I go with the 16" 1-7 twist to be able to launch out the 77's.

Robert, your 14.5" AR is totally competitive to 300m, it starts to fall down at 500m not from a lack of accuracy but a lack of velocity, the wind picks up the poor little round and has its way with it. I used a 14.5" M4 non freefloated, Colt 3x scope with 55 grain ammo a few years back at the BCRA Champs, I came in 15 or 16 of 45 shooters, someone more skilled like Longshot or Ricco could have probably won with it. 16" and 20" rifles seem to be the most winning out there.

What I figured....

I'll look at replacing my 14.5" with a 16".

I used to use a Bushy 1:9" Hbar 14.5" for service comp out to 500m... It worked very well. However, I now use 20" barrels and heavier bullets and do better ;)

I tried my 14.5 at 300 meters 2 summers ago in service rifle. Due to a loose wing-nut behind the Elcan..groups were terrible.
I plan on using it in our 300 - 100 meter matches this year..as soon as I put some thread locker on the wing-nut!:D

I took the "loose wing-nut behind the Elcan" comment to mean the guy shooting the rifle:D

There ya go. :p
Actually I did have a lot of failure to feed problems that season. I've since rectified that problem.
