accurate bolt action, what should I get?

The semi auto playtime was fun but now its time to get down to business:p

I'm looking for an accurate bolt action .22lr with a light trigger pull. I wouldn't mind getting a second hand rifle so please pitch out some models and i'll start the search, my budget is $400-500.
 
I like my CZ 452 a lot. It shoots great and has a very nice "feel" to it. My 10/22 and other semis I have owned mostly felt like toys. The CZ does not. It's a very well put together firearm. I will likely never sell mine. The added bonus with the CZ is that there are many flavours to choose from. American stock, full stock, euro stock all in different wood choices. Plus several barrel and sight configurations.
 
Want something a little different? Try a BSA Martini. There are many around for under $500. Most of them are very accurate. Some models were guaranteed to shoot under 1" or 1.5" at 100m
 
My savage is a nice shooting rifle. It is in 17HMR though, but I know several that have similar experiences with other rimfire cals from savage. The only problem is that it is a savage, so it will look/feel like crap, and start to fall apart with any serious use. They do shoot though, and you will be able to put nice glass on it for under 500.

If you want something that feels nice, looks nice, and shoots, you are a little over your budget with glass.
 
My Son's Stevens 300 which now is Savage model , in his hands is the most awesome varmint gun. He regularly shoots out to 200 yards at the range and the same distance shooting in the fields. Not all accurate guns need be a "big" name, as most accuracy comes from yourself and how well you know your gun. At 50 yards and paper targets, many touching hole patterns and he only uses a bipod and his shoulder. So it depends on what you wish to do with the gun...targets???get a heavy barrel but lighter barrelled gun for field varmints as you will be carrying it a lot. main thing is to enjoy the sport......
 
Walther KKJ were 'sporting' rifles built using the same action as their target guns... (kind of like the Anschutz 54 sporting guns)... They are great shooters, they are not that common... and magazines are on the expensive side ($100US for 5 shots 22lr magazine is expensive to me)

I have some bruno 22s that are very good. They can be in that price range. I have, also, a Rem.541 that is very nice to shoot. Check with some of the local guys & see if u can try a few different guns. Good luck AJ
 
Savage is a good bet. I was going to buy a CZ but didn't like the bolt throw and ended up with a Sako Quad.
 
Cz is hard to beat in your price range. However, once in a while, you can pick up a decent used 22 rimfire that is quality, but at a reasonable price. Several have been mentioned. Even a used 581 Remington should satisfy even a discriminating shooter, since they tend to be quite accurate. Used BRNO's, Walther KKJ, Remington 541S or T [may be a bit higher than $500, though] Winchester 69 or 69a, etc. Good luck! Eagleye.
