Accurate hunting load for the m14

I know I know, I just read the other thread on m14 handloads myself, but I've got some questions and I know this is the place so I'm making this thread:

I'm thinking of partly getting into reloading by buying the .308 win tools and using them this summer with my fathers handloading bench. The ammunition I'll be loading will be used for hunting (and obviously a whole lot of accuracy testing).

What bullet/powder would you recommend? I'll be using once fired Norma brass and Norma primers. My dad stocks up on 203-b but I don't mind getting another kind of powder just for myself.

I'm going to use the rifle for all kinds of game including moose and maybe bear. I've been looking at Sierras HPBT 165gr bullets because they're inexpensive but I don't know if they're a good choice.

I also primarily have access to Norma powder, but if I was recommended to I could probably get myself to a vendor that keeps other powders in stock.

Any recommendations for an accurate hunting load suitable for moose are appreciated.
 
Has anyone tried the 165 gr remington Pointed Soft Point Core Lokt? That's a long name and I think it means that it's an expanding but not too soft/fragile bullet.
 
Barnes Triple Shock are the only ones I have gotten to feed realibly. Some of the soft point's that I have tried jammed time to time. I have tried Nosler Partions, Remington Core Lokt and also Winchester XS2 & XS3. Although the Hornady SST and the Barnes MRX had no feeding issues either but mine likes for some wierd reason the Tripple Shock. As that's also good cause I hate scrubbing the barrel after poly tipped bullets.
 
"...Remington Pointed Soft Point Core Lokt..." Those will do nicely. PSP Core-Lokt's are a long time standard in all calibres, here. Lots of hunters use nothing else. Any 165 grain hunting bullet will kill any game you care to hunt though. The .308 loves 'em too.
"...been looking at Sierras HPBT 165gr bullets..." As long as they're GameKings, they'll be fine. Funny they're inexpensive in Sweden. Sierra bullets are a bit more expensive here. Very good bullets though.
"...primarily have access to Norma powder..." Norma stuff is horrendously expensive here, but there's nothing wrong with it. The 203-B powder will be fine. Norma's site shows data for a 165 grain Hornady SP. Don't worry about who made the bullet. You load for the bullet weight, not who made it.
Work up the load for your rifle. You must full length resize every time for a semi-auto. Plus watch the case lengths and OAL. Make sure you seat the primers properly too.
 
30 (.308) 150gr Sierra SBT Game King 100/box

this item costs about 45 CAD. The "premium" bullets easily cost twice as much.
