Accurate plinker/rabbit 10/22 build.

Hey guys, I just bought a 10/22 back from a friend I sold it to about a year ago. Im looking to do a total rebuild on it for a carry rifle for rabbit and grouse, as well as general plinker.

Id like it to shoot 1" groups at 50 yards off a bench. That gives me a chance to shoot two inches off shoulder at a moving target. Id like it to be minimal in OAL with around 13" LOP.

Im not interested in doing a tactical build. Its sitting in a Butler Creek folder right now with a red dot on it. Ive had my fill of pistol grip .22 hunting for now. I want to do another full blown tactical .22 after this one.

Do you guys have any parts suggestion or preffered dealers to accomplish these goals?

Well I guess it depends on your budget as well ... but this is what I would do personally

Dlask .920 12.5" Barrel .. dlaskarms.com
Dlask Scope Rail .375 (optional if you use a scope)
Timney Drop in Trigger unit .. mysticprecision.com

If you budget is limited, you can always do you own trigger job, plenty of tutorials to be found. But a new barrel is something to think about.
 
Budget is pretty liberal. Work just forced me to pay the top off my OT bank.

I was looking into the Dlask 12.5", would that short of a barrel affect accuracy?

I've got one on my grouse gun, 1 inch groups at 50, occasional flyer (going to try to sort by rim thickness, I think?).
Heavier than stink. I own much lighter bolt and pump .22's that are far more accurate off the bench...but not as cool as shooting ditch chickens with a shorty RDS 10-22:D
 
My 16.5 Dlask and Boyds tacticool measure in at 29.75" OAL ... when I had a 12.5 the barrel barely made it out of the barrel channel.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but if your using a folding stock, it must be 26" OAL FOLDED. Or you could run into some legal problems if it doesn't.
 
You are correct. If its a folder, the measurement must be taken when folded.

My gun is coming out of the folder though. I want a new stock, new barrel, new trigger, even thinking a DAR22 receiver for the milled on rail.

Kinda wondering why I bought the gun back and didn't just build one now.
 
This is what I use to chase rabbits and grouse:

Factory stock, factory target trigger, factory 16" barrel. Overall it is just over 34". The rear sight is from NECG and the front sight is a .570" Williams Firesight.

With no scope, it is super light and the peep sights are very accurate. I can hit clays at 100 yards with it off hand without too much trouble. Obviously I don't engage animals at that range (I generally limit my shots to 25 yards or less) but it's nice to know that it has the potential.
 
There is a mod you can do to add the bolt-hold-open thingy, but you need to use special mags for it to work.

I thought that the 10/22 not having this option would bother me, but it turns out that it's really not that big of a deal. The 10/22 is designed to be dry fired without causing any damage. You simply shoot until you hear a click instead of a bang and then reload. :D
